Around 30 miles (48 kilometers) to the north of Tai'an is Jinan, an important regional center home to Quancheng Square, Lingyan Temple and Shandong Stadium. If you have enough time, it's worth investigating Shandong University, Shandong Normal University and Daming Lake before you head back to Tai'an.
Make the effort to really get to know Shandong by learning a little about its history. An enjoyable place to begin is by visiting the area's old towns.
