Decent balance between location and room quality.

The location is very good, in an area called 補習街, or "tutoring street," a short walk across from Taipei Station. There are lots of street food vendors so if you know Mandarin it is extremely convenient. There are three breakfast vendors in the same street across from the hotel, and a convenience store next door and also multiple more within 1-2 blocks.
The rooms are definitely not large, but there is enough room to set up 2 computers and spread out 2 suitcases. Bathroom is decent. Hotel staff is very helpful and friendly. They can help ordering taxi to TPE, order 鳳梨酥 (pineapple pastry) and deliver to your room for free, and are just generally very helpful. All signs have English and Chinese along with multiple other languages.
The major downside of this place is the terrible internet. There is really no excuse, as it is year 2016 in Taipei. If you want to stay at this hotel and need half-decent internet like every other reasonable traveler, I suggest buying a 4G sim card and use tethering. Fortunately the hotel staff can help you with that too, and as with everything else in Taiwan things are cheap. There are multiple cell phone carriers though, and some use different bands, so you need to make sure which bands your phone supports and whether those same bands are used by the carrier. Chunghua Telecom, the largest cell phone company in TW, has an office 7-8 minutes walk away.
