The Taos Pueblo is a an ancient Native American pueblo that is over 1000 years old! And still home to some amazing people! You can visit during the day and even stop at their cafe or nibble on the local fry bread. #BestOf5 Entryway to the Mabel Dodge Luhan House, Taos, NM. #taos #roadtrip #BestOf5 #StunningStructures A typical adobe home in the old town portion of Taos. Wander up and down the streets to visit artists, weavers, tile shops and fantastic eateries. #newmexico Plaza detail near church A perfect Bed and Breakfast to watch the hummingbirds and sunsets after a day of exploring. I spent hours watching the hummingbirds come to these feeders as they flit back and forth over the prairie with Vallecito Mountain in the distance. San Francisco is one of the most photographed Spanish Colonial churches in the USA. It has twin bell towers, an arched portal entrance overlooking an enclosed courtyard, two large carved and painted reredos (alter screens with painted panels), hand-hewn vigas (ceiling beams( that rest on hand-carved corbels, and unique architectural buttresses. Known as Great Drinks!!
Hotel/ Resort and Spa it offers a secluded yet indulgent sanctuary, with a natural setting, surrounded by towering mountains and rustic high desert, sunlit, fish-filled streams, tropical flora and the sounds of calming waterfalls. The rooms are very nice. #hotel #spa #roadtrip #urban #fancy #nature #trovertips Celebrating its 200th anniversary in 2015. Beautiful Outside a museum just north of downtown Taos, NM Beautiful, old churches abound St. Francis of Assissi Church. Hidden hot springs we had the privelage of visiting while in Taos. Ask the locals how to get there, perhaps they can give you directions! But be respectful of the healing waters and leave a turquoise rock if you do. #whiskeysister A great place to stay while exploring Taos and its environs. The rooms and grounds take you to the edge of the mountains and hummingbirds. Love the contrast of adobe and blue sky's in New Mexico This marvelous structure is mudded every June, known as the The Pueblo in Taos, New Mexico is said to be the oldest continually inhabited community in the USA. The buildings are well preserved and made entirely of Adobe. Join the free tour that leaves from the church every 20 mins - tips appreciated of course. Food and shopping available. What a cute little town this is! Nestled in the mountains of Northern NM, there's two restaurants I would recommend: Orlando's and Michael's. There's still the Pueblo that you can visit, and the town is bursting with Southwestern art and adobe architecture. Saw this “high chair” for sale just a little north of downtown Taos, NM The John Dunn bridge over the Rio Grande River near El Prado, NM Neat art to be found at the Plaza Gallery in Taos. Family recipes abound on the Taos Pueblo at the only cafe there.
