Pros: Excellent breakfast & Very friendly staff
Cons: More towel racks? Guests are encourage to reuse towels if possible but there are not enough towel racks to hang the used towels.
We came in ~9:30 pm and the staff was very accommodating. I was given a room on the 2nd floor but I asked if it could be changed to the 1st floor. The request was processed right away with the same friendly demeanor.

Loved it!

Posted Jan 10, 2018
This was a lovely find! The staff went out of their way to make our short stay just great! Our room was quite a surprise in the overall size of it. It was huge! Along with the two marvelously comfy queen beds and the super linens, it was magnificent! The pool is closed for the season, but the hot tub was a wonderful 104* and a super clean and fresh place to relax for a while. Often times the free breakfast at a hotel is not worth mentioning, but this one was amazing with numerous delicious main choices and their condiments, a fabulous cut fruit bowl, along with cereals, breads and pastries. Something for everyone’s taste. Perfection! Though we chose not to take our dog with us this time, the lodge is quite welcoming to our four-legged family members and has a super area for dogs to be able to run and relax. Next time, Zeke!

Super Clean, Warm and Cozy

Posted Jan 9, 2018
Our trip to Taos was on a whim and our choice of accommodations were limited due to it being on New Years Eve. We picked this hotel by the reviews and I'm glad we did. The hotel grounds is super clean and the staff were all super nice and accommodating. We arrived into town about noon knowing check in was not until 3 but decided to stop in to see if by chance our room was ready and it was. It was nice to get settled and get on our way a few hours early. The room definitely needs updated but the cleanliness made up for things needing updated. The carpet was clean along with the furniture in the room We had a roaring fire each night. We figured the first night of firewood would be it but the next night the hotel put a small stack of wood by our door for another fire. The bed was comfortable. No problem sleeping. Duvet with a downed comforter inside. The breakfast was outstanding. It was the best breakfast we've ever had at a hotel. Huge variety and so fresh. The eating tables are on a covered patio enclosed with thick plastic keeping the warm air in and a great view out to the groomed yard while eating breakfast on a 20 degree morning. Overall this is a great place to stay. I want give 5 stars but I just can't due to how outdated parts of the rooms are. For sure they are clean, warm and cozy rooms.

Noise level

Posted Jan 2, 2018
Very noisy plumbing and thin walls between units. You can hear every word from the neighbors. Price was too steep ($200+ p/night for year’s end) for this inconvenience.

A pleasant mountain lodge

Posted Dec 28, 2017
A largish spread-out property with very spacious rooms. Though facility seemed dated, it was well-kept and clean. The end of our wing was going through renovation, but did not affect our stay. There was no elevator for the second floor guests. The stairs steps were unusually tall, probably were built before building codes were standardized - those with mobility issues be best to request rooms on ground floor. The hot breakfast was amazing considering it was included in the room rate. We stayed here in December of 2017 as a family of four (with 2 teenage boys) in a room with two queens.

Needs updating

Posted Dec 6, 2017
There were a lot of positives about this place: the staff was friendly; the breakfast had a lot of good options; the free chips and salsa in the evenings were a fun bonus!; the room was relatively spacious; and the location was pretty central. But we were grossed out by how filthy the carpeting was. Neither one of us wanted to walk on it with bare feet. It probably needed to be replaced, like, 15 years ago? It seems like a little thing, but it certainly affected our level of comfort in the room.

Thank you for sharing your experience at the El Pueblo ! Im glad your found so many positives. My sincere apologizes however that we fell far below your standards ( and ours !) regarding the carpet ! All of the rooms have had the flooring replaced, either with carpet or laminate as recently as this last year, however we get so much traffic in our rooms we will be doing another flooring evaluation because of your feedback, so thank you ! ( if you could let me know which room you were in, we can address that one right away ! Thanks again for the review good and not so good, as this always helps us to improve !
