Please don't bother to eat or drink at Piper's (part of the hotel). Staff is NOT friendly nor helpful and food was sub-par. Hotel staff on the other hand was the only good thing we experienced during our stay.

close to airport

Pros: Free shuttle and proximity to airport. Comfortable bed. Working heater. Good price for only 8 hour layover.
Cons: Sound-proofing. Better breakfast choices.
Location: Not the best location, but close to the airport.
A shuttle bus and closeness to the airport was a plus in my planning. The check-in was easy and room was comfortable, as was the bed. However, the walls are thin and noise, including snoring in the adjacent room, was audible. I came late at midnight and hooped to sleep in until 8: 00 next morning, but other guests rose 4early, and laughter and loud voices began at 5:00 AM. Light from under the hall door illuminated the room all night. I couldn't get the TV to work. The only station that came up was ET, one I never watch. Free breakfast was only coffee and Danish. when other hotels usually offer more..

Close to airport AND downtown

Pros: Proximity to airport and downtown.
Cons: Would be nice to have an elevator.
Pipers Restaurant - best breakfast in Anchorage. Wanted a place to stay at the front end and back end of our hunting trip into the bush. Left some of our travel luggage that we didn't need in the bush.

Very affordable and comfortable! A little wear and tear shows here and there, but the rooms were very nice and comfortable.

Great location and Great food

Pros: Can't say enough about friendly staff.
Cons: Would be nice to have an elevator but not important enough to go elsewhere.
Location: Lots of great shopping downtown. Fabulous restaurants - our favorite is Sea Galley - we go there at least once every time we visit Alaska.
Close to International airport, small airplane (Merrill Field) airport and downtown. Pipers restaurant in the hotel has excellent food. Hotel provided $5/person off on full menu breakfast per person per day or free continental breakfast. Staff were most friendly and helpful. Only negative is no elevator to second floor rooms but bellhops were happy to accommodate carting all the luggage.

Terrible billing system

I paid for the bar tab at the bar, yet the charge showed up on my final hotel bill ($97.50) Stupid me for not checking the receipt at the front desk before I left.

Ideal hotel!

Pros: The location is ideal!
We stayed there three nights using it as our home base. Great location close to airport. Good restaurant. Accommodating and friendly staff!
