Nice hotel, easy walking distance to main parts and station.basic but also clean with nice staff. Good breakfast options although not much for vegans. Would stay here again though.

Both the maintenance and cleanliness of the rooms could be improved. We stayed for 1 week and only from the 3rd day the room was cleaned and towels/bedding changed. The furniture was very dusty and so was the floor. The bed lights didn't work and the flush pressure was very bad, as was the water in the shower. Breakfast had no option of fruits or any protein, just processed cheese, toast, white bread, croissant and cornflakes. Too bad! Positive points: excellent location with several restaurant options, market and pharmacy; close to the public transport and bus terminal. We were treated very well by the hotel staff; they were always friendly and cordial.

It was cheap but not at all cheerful. Rooms are tiny and dated with uncomfortable beds and everything feels slightly unclean. Bathroom is small with an almost microscopic shower. The hotel itself felt noisy with trolleys being moved loudly outside very early in the morning and footsteps on the wooden floors in the hallway. Breakfast is included but it was literally a paper tray (no plate!) with: 2 small slices of bread (there is a toaster), a croissant, a couple of biscuits, a slice of 'burger cheese', and butter and jams. If you wanted more you could ask for it but I didn't. The location is the only really good point as it is very close to the station and easily walkable to many of the monuments.

First night was a nightmare, the staff was unresponsive, my senior father and my family were suffocated with no AC or Celine fan available. The TV was not working, I have been saving time and money to enjoy my vacation time this time of the year and the manager of the hotel was so rude. I feel sad for expending my money and points and I hope to receive them back. The features posted and promises were not accurate. When I tried to find a solution for multiple issues with the staff, the manager told me multiple times to contact Expedia and just 2 people were kind and professional Dupa and Francesco.

La peor experiencia en años!
Un horror! Reservamos una habitación para 4 personas y solo encontramos espacio para tres. Todo deteriorado en general. La puerta del baño (plegable) con uniones faltantes que permitía ver hacia dentro del baño. Todo super “viejo”, horrible, los alcolchados agujereados con cigarrillo. En el desayuno, los empleados reciclaban (en frente de los comensales) los platos de plásticos sacándolos del tacho de basura para volver a servir el desayuno a otros comensales. No hay siquiera un pequeño refrigerador en las habitaciones.

The hotel is in middle of the city is the only plus. Worst expert ever. Morning 6am the hotel machines are switched on and since not sound proof rooms every one will wake up due to the messy sound of the machines. In the month of December they do not have hot water for bath. When we enquirer they said “you have finished 80l of hot water” and blamed us for no reason and said you can take bath in cold water. No action taken for 2 days. The breakfast spread is not great only as well. Won’t book this hotel ever again. Worst hotel.

This hotel is really very tired and I would have rated it lower but for its very low cost of our stay. My wife and I spent 4 nights here on our first visit to Rome and spent as much time as possible, out and about seeing the sights so as a place just to sleep, it fulfilled its purpose. Rooms and bathroom very small. No hot water in the bathroom on our first morning but sorted for the rest of our stay once we had complained. Breakfast is just fresh bread and jam, cereal, coffee and juice which was OK but served in a basement dining area accessed via a steep staircase. One small elevator serves as access between lobby and bedroom floors above. Staff were all very good. The location is good within a few mins walk of Termini Station and the Metro or, about 25mins walk down hill to the colosseum. Lots of restaurants and dining choices nearby.

Simple hotel in a good location
Convenient location close to Termini station and walking distance to some attractions such as colosseum, forum, etc. WiFi works well in the room. Checkout time is at 11am and we were not allowed to extend any additional time. Hotel is simple but can be a good option to stay a short time and pay a good price.

Friendly reception staff, basic hotel but very reasonable rates so you can’t complain, we were only looking for somewhere to sleep so weren’t bothered! Free breakfast is a nice addition, however you have to get the there early to get anything as there’s not much there! Overall pleasant stay, we were able to walk to all of the places without the need of public transport, easy walking distance from train station so definitely best to get the direct train from Fuimicino Airport to Termini.

We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights and it was the worst nights we’ve ever had. First we were welcomed with a very old and nasty smell in the room. Then the heater never seemed to be on at all as the room was always very cold and had to ask for more blankets. No wonder I got ill and had to spend the whole day resting at the hotel. The bed was horrible, it gave both my husband and I backaches because it was so stiff and uncomfortable. The breakfast was terrible, they only had pastries which was very dry and stale. Hot and cold drinks were all tasteless. It was a dreadful experience overall. Honestly, don’t waste your money by staying at this hotel!!

Hotel staff were all very friendly, good breakfast, great location. My room was quite dated however the tv worked, bed was fine and it was air conditioned. Bathroom was the most disappointing with a small, basic shower.

The shower is too small, but for the price and location, this was a good deal. The endless supply of coffee made to order but the wonderful and warm lady in the restaurant are unparallel. A good start for the day.

No air conditioning in the room, which was not disclosed earlier. Room change request was not accommodated, even when we agreed to pay extra. It was 80+ F outside, and hotel should have working AC or should let their guests know in advance about it, to plan accordingly. It was a horrible night!

The Altavilla Hotel is an old hotel very close to the Termini station. The people that work there are all very helpful and friendly which makes your stay that much better. They used to have a bigger variety for breakfast, but now unfortunately they only have bread and sweets. But the coffee you get is very good.

really a budget hotel
stayed here for one night for a weekend in Rome. the location is perfect as it is close to termini station. the condition of the hotel is bad, it has really seen it's best days. unfortunately this is standard for most italian budget hotels, though 55 euro/night is still not super cheap in my opinion. the room seems clean, but it is just worn with a intense weird smell. the bathroom is tiny as the fixed the showerhead is right above the toilet, so it's literally a shower-slash-toilet. the bed was old, like sleeping on the floor. I was lucky I was exhausted so I managed. wifi is only in the main hall, and is shut off during the night, though I couldn't get it to work anyway. didn't try the breakfast so I cannot rate that. leaving luggage after checkout costs 2 euro/piece. the advantage is that the staff is very, very friendly. if you're looking for a cheap place to only sleep and don't mind the worn condition than this is fine.

Hotel Refused Heating
The weather was cold and the room heating either nil or inadequate. Really irritated when desk refused daytime heating, forcing the wear of winter jacket in room, and hot water shower. Cold ceramic floors with no floor coverings - had to use blankets instead. Adjusting shower head caused 220v shocks. Free breakfast without fruit, or protein - only juice, coffee and cereal. The hotel used the advantage of main train station ( Roma Termini ) proximity to advantage minimal accommodation with grossly overrated 2-star rating, and coupled with grossly exaggerated pricing. Cheapskates too, by demanding city tax paid in cash - I refused and only on this point was I able to use my card. I will never go there again in the winter.

Hotel very basic but clean, staff happy to help always, breakfast very basic but it set you up till lunch. Hotel location great for families and who are able to walk, it's not good for the elderly if not able to walk to far, as there is abit of a hill going up back to the hotel. Overall very good for the price.

Good location but hotel is dated
Hotel is in a good location for the main train station and bus links to the airport. That's really the only positive thing I can say about this hotel. If you are travelling on a budget it's great, of not spend the extra and go elsewhere. Hotel is dated, bedding is sheets and itchy blankets. Found things in the bed when I checked in, not sure if the sheets where changed from the previous guest. TV in room didn't work. View of a wall with pipe on it. Toilet that has a bi folding door on (so you can both hear and smell what your room mate is doing). Breakfast, they run out of food by 7:30am only long life crossiants left after that time. All in all this hotel gets 1 out of 5 from me and that's for location only.

Good location to the Terminii
Our family stayed in this hotel for 4 nights. It was clean and most of the staff on the front desk were friendly and helpful. We stayed in a quad share room. The two single beds were comfortable, however the queen bed was hard, as were the pillows. During our entire stay our shower was broken, and appeared to have been broken for quite sometime as there was no longer even a shower curtain in place. We were provided a plug for the bath, which didn't fit the plug hole very well and had a slow leak. We found the bath could only be filled once an evening as it seemed to use all the hot water allocated to the room, which is less than ideal for 4 people staying. The breakfast was very basic, tiny toast, one type of cereal, a small selection of danish's that the woman appeared reluctant to replenish. The location of this hotel is very good, approximately 4 minutes walk from the main rail and bus station, 15-20 minute easy walk to the colosseum, Trevi fountain, pantheon. It was also relatively quiet for the location.

Amazing location to get anywhere in Rome.
Hotel was basic but then it was very cheap to stay. The staff were very friendly and offered lots of advice to make our trip simple (just ask). Food at breakfast was basic but ample for our needs. Room was clean although a little out dated. The hotel location was amazing as its bang smack in the middle of services and tourist attractions and easy to get everywhere. Please make sure you keep additional cash aside for the end of your trip for local city tax in Rome.

I booked this hotel for 4 nights and I was really worried about staying there after reading some of the reviews. I wasn't expecting any luxuries as I only paid £140 for the whole stay. I was very pleasantly surprised when we got to the hotel with how utterly lovely the staff were and how spacious and clean our room was. The TV worked fine, the fan worked fine, the beds were clean, the promised hair dryer was there too. There was nothing to complain about!! The shower head was slightly broken when we first got there and the water wasn't running properly but we loosened up the head a bit and it was one of the nicest, hottest power showers.. The breakfast was a bit dull as it was just sweet pastries but the coffee was AMAZING. It was included in the room fee so again, for the price that we paid we really, really couldn't complain! The location of the hotel is GREAT! It's right by Termini Station so perfect if that's where you get dropped off from the airport. Also great if you don't like walking too much as the metro station is just round the corner. The hotel a really short walk to the Colosseum and the center of Rome. Overall, it's a great central hotel for those that travel on a budget and don't expect any luxuries. If you like staying by the city center so you can walk to all the sights but don't want to break the bank then this is definitely a good enough hotel.

Falsely advertised. Said room paid for has air conditioning but arrive to be told it costs an extra €15 per night for this. This should have been included in the listed price. Wifi did not work in any part of the hotel and the room was very dated and could do with a thorough clean. A 2 star hotel at best. However the location was good for access to the train and restaurants. I would not stay here again.

Great location but old hotel
The location of this hotel is great for hop on hop off tour and the metro. Termini is only 5 minutes away and lots of great food places around it. If you are traveling on a budget this would be good. It was a very very tired looking hotel. With pretty big rooms but bathrooms were in poor condition and a/c and fan both didn't work. Breakfast is decent and the breakfast lady was a gem but all other staff members seem to struggle with English.
