Great accommodation

Posted Jun 2, 2009
We really enjoyed our stay and would recomend this hotel to anyone who enjoys a quiet getaway. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Swimming pool was great (we had it to ourselves which was an added bonus). There is plenty of places to sit out and enjoy a glass of wine (all with lovely views). Overall, a lovely hotel.

Most relaxing holiday ever

Posted Aug 11, 2008
Just returned from 2 wonderful weeks at Poggitazzi! Firstly note that this is NOT a hotel! - maid service is extra, there is no room service and you won't find a bar! What you will find is very comfortable authentic accommodation in a most tranquil setting - the perfect place to get away from it all and a great base from which to explore the beautiful Tuscan countryside. We stayed in a one room appartment with our 2 children which had limited self catering facilities on a bed and breakfast basis, which was excellent. Dinner was available on Saturday night at the mansion house and the 7 courses were extremely good value - highly recommended! We were pleasantly surprised by Loro Ciuffenna itself - a beatiful small town with several excellent restaurants; we often enjoyed gelato on the bridge admiring the stunning views. Can't wait to return!

Perfect for chilling

We found the staff very helpful (if not on siesta) and the villa generally very good. The poll can fill very quickly with kids and the villa is about 15 minutes further away from the main Tuscan tourist sites than you would really like. That said it is stunning and the pool and rooms are large. Try and get a large room since the doubles do not have self-catering facilities and contrary to the website, dinner is served twice a week. The nearest restaurant is about a 2km walk which gets a little hairy in the dark. Otherwise you need to drive into Loro Cuiffenna for everything which is more 5 km than 4.

A Wonderful Hotel! A Real Must Stay!

Posted Apr 24, 2008
This hotel was a wonderful find for our family of four(children 6,and 7). We spent a week at Poggitazzi in April and loved every minute of it. The apartment with kitchen and 3 beds was very large by european standards, comfortable and well equipped. The farm itself was gorgeous. It had breath taking views, miles of hiking trails, and immaculate grounds. The view overlooking the Tuscan countryside was stunning. Lots of outdoor dining places overlooking the valley, firepits, a playground, pool, horses, everything you could need. The staff was excellent. Accommodating our every need and beyond. We had an excellent tour of the delicious olive oil production, and a sumptuous wine tasting, plus a large spread of wonderful food each morning for breakfast. The location is close to Florence (an easy train ride if you choose not to drive) and right outside of Arezzo. We plan to return to this hotel in the future. And it is easily a four star find, for a two star price. Excellent value for the money! The best you can find! We will definitely be back!

Highly recommended for a quiet get-away

This appartment is in the most lovely location, set off the road amongst olive groves and with far reaching views across countryside in one direction, and the hills in the other. Such a tranquil location. There is a great covered seating area which is perfect for relaxing evenings chatting and indulging in bottles of the local wine. The appartment room was really clean, as was the pool area. Breakfast was simple but plentiful, and the staff were helpful. The immediate area is not overly touristy, which adds to its charm. Loro Cuiffenna is a short drive away and provides for groceries & places to eat out. Would highly recommend having the use of a car to explore the area, but I suggest taking the train from Montevarchi station (20 mins drive away) to Florence/Rome etc - a regular service and really cheap. And don't miss Siena - the drive through Gaioli to get there is beautiful. Also the drive around Radda in the Chianti district is just stunning. Loved it and can't wait to go back again. Would highly recommend it for those wanting a tranquil holiday away from it all.

Good value for money

Poggitazzi offers an excellent standard of self catering accommodation. The rooms are simply furnished but offer everything you would need to enjoy a comfortable stay in the middle of this beutiful countryside. The outdoor pool is excellently maintained, clean and easily accessed. The English speaking staff are pleasant and totally comitted to making your stay enjoyable. Breakfast is a simple Tuscan affair, but there is plenty to satisfy everyone. In the nearby village of Loro Ciufenna there are several excellent restaurants for evening meals (ask staff for details). A car is essential to allow you to visit the nearby villages and such towns as Arrezo, Sienna and Florence. Evening meals were served twice in the 8 days we stayed, in the owners villa - highly recommended. Ideal location for families with young children.
