Convenient and consistently good.

Posted Aug 1, 2016
Pros: It felt as comfortable and welcoming as if we were family.
Cons: Entering and exiting the property needs to be made easier with a back route to a traffic light.
Location: Sorry, but here is little to do except a very nice small museum at the Clabber Girl Baking Powder building. The train was not running at Deming park.
We have stayed at this "half-way-in-between" location four times and will choose it anytime we are passing through. It is like an oasis after miles of featureless prairie interrupted only by perennial expressway construction. In the small lobby, icy lemonade and flavored water greets road-worn guests. Our most recent visit was four nights for a small family reunion. Located just off I-70 and near a shopping mall, the only problem is traffic congestion during the day. Every brand of chain restaurant is within a mile. Once we brought in a carry-out dinner and were welcome to eat in the breakfast area of the lobby where we also played cards and talked afternoons and evenings. A typical free breakfast was made especially good with DIY waffles and homemade oatmeal. The morning staff kept the buffet filled, hot, and perfectly clean. The friendly staff, both desk and housekeeping, seemed genuinely concerned about keeping guests happy, asking what we needed, offering suggestions for restaurants, activities, alternate driving directions. A handicap room was not available at check-in, but they moved us to one during our stay. Be careful if making reservations on another website since our room was marked "accessible" but was only equipped with a doorbell for hearing-impaired travelers. WiFi was free and easy to log on to in our room and at the two computers near the lobby. Housekeepers were thorough and efficient, and grounds were especially pretty for an end-of-ramp hotel.

Outstanding

Pros: The Breakfast
Cons: Shower that does not leaked to the carpet
Location: Lots of great restaurant. We went to the Olive Garden and the waiter and food was outstanding. Better then other Olive Gardens I have been to.
Very cheerful and helpful staff. The room was good. Being that this was the week of the DNC I wish they had the MSNBC channel but the room was very good. The water in the shower of the handicapped room escaped to the carpet but a minor inconvenience. The breakfast was outstanding. Especially the homemade biscuits and gravy. It was the best.

Great Weekend at Terre Haute

Hotel & Staff were great overall. However, both phones in the room did not function at all. We were able to use cell phones to reach the office.

We stayed 0ne night and aside from the fact that there was some road noise it was a very nice experience.

Business hotel near highway

Fairly standard stay for a Hampton, but room was not too clean. Trash not emptied and bathroom looked like it had been wiped down with a dirty rag.

Noisy.... final stay at this hotel

Posted Apr 10, 2016 on Hotels
I have stayed here a number of times but the most recent visits haven't been good. I probably will not stay here again. The hotel was quite noisy - it gets a lot of visits from sports teams coming to the Terre Haute area or ISU, and this time it was teenaged girls. I don't know why I was placed in a ground floor room (never a good idea) near the pool and almost directly across from the elevators. Could not be a noisier place in the hotel. I thought that after 10 or so in the evening that things would quiet down, but of course any time anyone used the elevator, there was noisy conversation and the sound of the elevator bell. The room was a handicapped accessible room, which is no big deal, but the bathroom was frigid, the handheld shower device was held onto the wall with a plastic ziptie, and there was no exhaust fan. After a big recent (and much needed) renovation of the hotel, you'd think that things like this would be solved. I think I'm done staying here.
