No central heating in the newer blocks of rooms. Storage heater provided, seems an odd omission.

Just a one night stay but very happy, beautiful place, good service,good food and lovely staff, would definitely recommend.

Hare and hounds was perfectly situated for out visit to high grove..wonderful hotel, excellent staff..we will definitely visit this hotel again.

Highly recommended for the Arboretum!

Pros: Proximity to Arboretum. Friendly reception staff.
Cons: Air-conditioning/double-glazing in main house
I was delighted with my stay here at the end of October (less so at the end of August, when my sleep [in Room 14, at the front, with summer windows open] was disturbed by the noise of outside traffic). Room 19, facing the gardens at the rear of the hotel, away from the main road, was lovely and quiet (no wedding on when I visited) and a decent size for a single room. It was clean throughout, with bed a bit on the soft side but perfectly comfortable and good 'ventilation' (no air-con, but two largish windows that open and a 'balcony' door leading to the fire escape). Lighting could have been a bit brighter for reading at night, but it was OK. Attentiveness of reception staff was superlative.

Although Room 14 a beautiful bedroom, unfortunately during the summer with the windows open you can hear the traffic. Wow, Wow, Wow!

What a fantastic find on Hotels.com, night away with my Wife. We stayed in the Maple room, which was ideal for us, good size, clean tidy and very friendly helpful staff. We went out to a wedding in the evening so did not eat, however the breakfast was superb. Lovely venue and location in the country!

Lovely hotel in lovely grounds

Our room was in the loft and very small. The bed was so hard I woke with back pain. The shower screen was too short so all the water went onto the floor. The breakfast was in a lovely setting but it was served luke warm. I asked for a jug of water, I was told I could only have a glass, otherwise everyone else would be asking for one!!! the hotel itself and gardens were beautiful.
