Excellent place to stay - cosy and friendly
Perfect stay for what i needed. My room was cosy and full of character. The bed had crisp, clean white sheets and was super comfy. Wonderful shower, although the on and off part of the shower was stiff. I did notice some cobwebs, however the room was clean and well presented. The staff where friendly and I’ll definitely be staying again. In fact im already booked in. Thank you for a wonderful stay

When we arrived at 2200 on a Thursday evening, we were pleasantly surprised with how lovely our family room was and how welcoming the team were; it was confirmed breakfast timings as 0700 for our stay. On the Friday, we arrived at 0700 for our breakfast and as we were in a hurry, only had some of the limited selection of continental breakfast. At £7 each it wasn't too badly priced but I do feel that there could have been slightly more on offer, but we all left content. We returned in the evening and enjoyed a drink and snack in the pub which was a real pleasure. The following morning we needed to have breakfast and get checked out by 0745. When we walked over to the pub from the hotel area, there was no-one in sight; the building was locked up, no lights on. We double checked online and the information in the room which all said breakfast at 0700 on Sun-Sat, so at 0715, we tried again but still no-one. At this point we knew we needed to get checked out and get moving to get some kind of food from elsewhere before our early appointment. I tried calling the emergency number available on the door but this rang dead - VERY CONCERNING - what if there'd been an emergency? We ended up posting the key and leaving a voicemail asking could we be called to advise we were checked out - we left over a week ago and as far as I know, we're still checked in.... We would stay here again, but would like assurance the emergency number is working and we wouldn't rely on having breakfast here.

Decent hotel if you're not in a roadside room
Decent hotel but if you're in a room on the roadside you will be woken up at 5am by the cars driving by, otherwise a all good

The rooms were clean but the property badly needs updating and decorating it is very shabby. Cannot fault the staff, they were very friendly.

Owners and staff were very friendly and helpful. Delicious pub food with a great variety to choose from. Our room was comfortable, clean and had everything we needed. The location was perfect for Badminton Horse Trials. We highly recommend and will hopefully visit again.

Lovely premises, but in serious need of a refurb
The building is lovely, as were the staff (though service was very slow at times). Unfortunately, the premises are very “tired“: they need to be refreshed and updated. The failure to service the rooms, replace towels et cetera was also regrettable, And the standards of cleanliness in the rooms walls below expectation. I think that Greene King are neglecting their estate (or at least this example)

This could be such a lovely place to stay, with it's traditional style and character. But the staff lack lustre, we felt they weren't very bothered if we enjoyed our stay or not. The rooms were dirty. Food on offer was lovely but the servers were not interested and struggled to be polite. Absolutely no sense of humour or wanting any interaction. If the staff were more enthusiastic and the rooms were cleaned to a higher standard this would be a great place to enjoy, as there is ample free parking, had a great nights sleep and a lovely dining area. However, there was no joy and no heart in the place. Because of that we chose to move on and not book another night. Such a lovely venue but is very tired looking ans so are the staff

No prior knowledge that the inn hadn't had a calor gas delivery so no hot food available had promised a refund on breakfast not arrived so far, no heating in area where breakfast was served. Inn is needing a refurb very tired looking etc.

Lovely atmosphere
What an amazing find. Over 300years old with most of original floors and character. Very cosy restaurants consisting of many small rooms. Good menu to. Our accommodation was in hall next door, clean, warm and comfortable,again with old features. We found staff friendly, although possibly short staffed. Would stay again with family, as parking and a play park on site.

Great location, lovely historic place with so much potential spoilt by lack of attention to detail. Plus points. Lovely big comfortable bed and great size TV. Good menu, very nice bar. Bad points. Plenty of coffee sachets in Room but no tea & only milk for two cups of coffee. Shower head completely useless & worn out only partially worked on jet setting. No soap for wash basin. Had to climb into bath to reach shower fixed soap dispenser. Breakfast great selection but very poorly cooked. Reception not manned, very slow arrival processing, no available at departure. So much potential but spoilt by lack of attention to basic details.

The space available in a family room was great - 2 bedrooms and a small sitting room. The cleanliness left a lot to be desired - one dirty sock from a previous resident, one bin not emptied from a previous resident and a very dirty mattress (only discovered after we'd slept on it).

Disappointing overall.. Bed mattress was old, saggy and uncomfortable.. Woke up with a bad back.. Tried to take a shower but that proved to be impossible as there was no control over the water temperature.. the thermostatic valve stuck on hot..so no morning shower... Rooms badly need updating.. Not impressed.

Fine for a night
Our stay at Hunters Hall was fine. They were short staffed on the day we arrived so there was a small wait for check-in but the staff member was very apologetic and it wasn't a problem. We had booked a double room but were given a twin. The room itself was a little dated and could have done with some tlc. The main surfaces/bedding were clean but it could have benefited with a deep clean. There was cobwebs and dust on the curtain frill, dirty scuff marks on walls and grime on the window sills. The sealant on shower had pealed away in places. The room smelt strongly of air freshener when we arrived. We came to realise, after opening some windows, that this was because the bathroom smelt very strongly of damp. It wasn't particularly pleasant, especially as it wafted through into the room if the door wasn't fully closed. Check-out the following day was very easy as key could just be left in a box at reception. We paid £95 for the night but it seems we went on a busy weekend. Personally I would have expected to see a cleaner, and more looked after room for that price. It was fine for one night but we wouldn't have been happy with the smell had we been staying longer.
