Bell Inn over the road from Tewkesbury Abbey

Posted Jun 15, 2017 on Hotels
For anyone with arthritis or mobility problems the bathroom would have been an ordeal. Long narrow bath with shower attachment one third of the way up the wall, no shower curtain or screen and a black "tar" like floor covering as a "wet area" Sink taps another ordeal as they were rounded oblong with two indents on either side giving no grip at all with wet or soapy hands. Sink was set low down with a glass shelf just above it so you had to be careful not to hit it with your head when leaning over the sink. Bed mattress was good, but no mattress protector on top of the mattress and the sheets only fitted top and bottom with hardly any side overhang. Nothing at all to tuck under the mattress. Consequently, if you are a restless sleeper, you wake up with no sheet underneath you and lying on the bare mattress. Room was clean but on the small side. As a couple we managed okay, but for anyone with mobility problems I think it would have been a nightmare especially being on the upper level with winding stairs and fire doors to negotiate

Faulty Towers

Terrible! Key didn't work, toilet hanging off the wall, bathroom door didn't shut, floodlight shining in the bedroom window all night, slow service (or no service) all round, not worth the money and don't recommend! Actually have complained to chain!

Pleasant and relaxing stay in Tewkesbury

Posted Mar 12, 2017 on Hotels
The room was a little 'tired' , but generally clean and reasonably comfortable. The Bar was busy and perhaps a little understaffed making service just a little slow, but the prices were reasonable and the food very good. There was live music in the bar, the female singer/guitarist was extremely talented and provided a very good evenings entertainment. The breakfast was pretty good and included in the price. We would certainly use the Bell again if staying in Tewkesbury.
