Affordable, comfortable hotel in Texarkana

Posted Sep 13, 2016
Cons: The elevators are rickety, we took the stairs every time after that first ride.
Location: Several bookstores and comic shops, thrift stores and a mall within 10 miles if you're interested in shopping or just need to pick something up.
Affordable, comfortable hotel in Texarkana located off a main interstate. Within walking distance of two diners and a BBQ restaurant, safe entry from the main road (there are several tricky intersections in the area so this was a huge plus) and a friendly, accomodating staff. Several bookstores and comic shops, thrift stores and a mall within 10 miles if you're interested in shopping or just need to pick something up.

Mediocre hotel in desperate need of an overhaul

Posted Mar 4, 2016
Pros: Location close to the highway.
Cons: Bathroom floor needs a scrubbing, the lobby needs to be redone, the breakfast area needs cleaning, the room doors needs soundproof weatherstrip/sweep
Location: Denny's next door is a very good place to eat.
From the moment I arrived, the stay was a disappointment. Though I had booked and paid for an Executive Suite, I was only given a standard room. The clerk at the desk when I arrived was unhelpful and stated the manager told her to only give standard rooms to anyone making a booking through Internet travel agents, no matter what was paid for. A followup with a different clerk the following morning revealed that Expedia had only reserved a standard room and paid that amount even though I had paid Expedia the full price for an Executive Suite. With that information, I phoned Expedia was refunded the difference. The room I was given, room 205, was generally clean, properly equipped and supplied with clean linens and towels but had several deficiencies. Upon entering, I noticed the badly patched carpet at the entrance. The wall paint near the ceiling was cracked and peeling. The bathroom walls and ceiling had bad patch and taping jobs. The bathroom floor grout was black from lack of scrubbing and the tiles were all cracked. A light bulb by the bed was burned out.. The smoke detector in the ceiling was hanging loose. The room heating / cooling unit gave off a strong odor of something burning when turned on. The furniture all shows a lot of hard wear. It needs refinishing. Sleep quality was ok until some people started talking in the hall at 4:30 am. That is when I noticed the door had no door sweep or weatherstripping. The breakfast room needs a lot of cleaning.

Needs to be cleaner

Posted Dec 17, 2015
Pros: Location, small pet friendly, good amenities.
Cons: Deep clean or replace carpet, improve room cleaning.
Location: Close to food and shopping. Easy on and off interstate.
When choosing a hotel, our preference is for cleanliness above amenities. This hotel could use being cleaner. We found someone's black sock behind the dust ruffle. Plus the carpet needed a good cleaning or replacing. Everything else was okay but not exceptional.

Had to leave

Posted Oct 25, 2015
Pros: My room was spotless.
Cons: Clean the non room areas. Entry, halls, bathrooms, dining and halls.
Location: n/a
The room was nice. It was also clean. Staff was very nice and always polite. However, all the areas outside of the actual room were bordering on disgusting. Filthy from the walkway in, to the elevators and continuing into the dining area. The breakfast was poor. Nothing aside from the actual room, and some very nice staff was acceptable.

Disappointed

Posted Oct 24, 2015
The room was clean and the bed was comfortable but that is all I can say nice. Breakfast was not good- very limited choices and poor quality and not clean. Room in poor repair. Beds small - full size not queen. Place smelled like smoke. Not impressed.

Only stayed one night, but everything was great. Will stay there again, right on the road to Arkansas. Perfect.

Good for a one night stay.

Posted Sep 6, 2015
Pros: It was convenient to what we were doing in the area.
It is an older hotel that has been fixed up. Nice and clean. High carb breakfast available but they did have hard boiled eggs. No tea bags. It was good for a one night stay.

Close to interstate and nearby restaurants. I would definitely stay there again for a quick overnight.

Pros: It was dog friendly.
Cons: The rooms were a bit outdated.
Location: There were decent places to eat within a 10 minute drive.
It was fine and clean for the price and was dog friendly.
