Mediocre hotel in desperate need of an overhaul

From the moment I arrived, the stay was a disappointment. Though I had booked and paid for an Executive Suite, I was only given a standard room. The clerk at the desk when I arrived was unhelpful and stated the manager told her to only give standard rooms to anyone making a booking through Internet travel agents, no matter what was paid for. A followup with a different clerk the following morning revealed that Expedia had only reserved a standard room and paid that amount even though I had paid Expedia the full price for an Executive Suite. With that information, I phoned Expedia was refunded the difference.
The room I was given, room 205, was generally clean, properly equipped and supplied with clean linens and towels but had several deficiencies. Upon entering, I noticed the badly patched carpet at the entrance. The wall paint near the ceiling was cracked and peeling. The bathroom walls and ceiling had bad patch and taping jobs. The bathroom floor grout was black from lack of scrubbing and the tiles were all cracked. A light bulb by the bed was burned out.. The smoke detector in the ceiling was hanging loose. The room heating / cooling unit gave off a strong odor of something burning when turned on. The furniture all shows a lot of hard wear. It needs refinishing.
Sleep quality was ok until some people started talking in the hall at 4:30 am. That is when I noticed the door had no door sweep or weatherstripping.
The breakfast room needs a lot of cleaning.
