Affordable luxury

We had a relaxing stay at the Belfry, enjoying the spa, bar and grounds. A taxi into Oxford wasn't too bad either (£30). Would highly recommend.

A great stay. Easy to get to, plenty of parking, fabulous room. They had even left extra towels e t c for my child. Lovely leisure facilities too, a shame I didn't have time to use the spa. Will return.

Were very surprised at very high standard

Posted Sep 22, 2017
We actually showed up with a somewhat negative outlook as we had been unable to cancel when previous plans were cancelled but decided to make a good job of it. Anyway it turned into a delightful weekend because the hotel was so pleasant and the service so good. We had a thoroughly nice stay and would go back

Great Staff

Posted Sep 19, 2017
Pros: The best thing was the staff. The surrounding grounds made the whole setting very relaxing.
Cons: Perhaps one more vegetarian option on the menu.
Location: The hotel was situated in ample grounds. Thame has good local shops, cafes & restaurants, very pretty too. Many small nature reserves in this area.
The hotel was clean and comfortable with good facilities. The staff made our stay great, We were looked after very well: queries answered, quirks catered for without any quibbles. The restaurant manager and his staff were very kind, always polite and pleasant, helpful without being fussy, always there when we needed them but not intrusive. Reception staff were efficient, again always pleasant and helpful. Their local knowledge was very helpful in pointing us in the right directions as we explored the area. In fact all the staff we came into contact with were excellent. I have already recommended the hotel to friends!

Taps in the bathroom need changeing to mixer tap because the current version they have will burn you if your not careful.

Nice hotel with excellent gym

Posted Sep 1, 2017
Great base to see the surrounding area and the best that Oxford has to offer. B&B package through Expedia.com made this hotel more affordable. Coming from Scotland we found the bar and food a bit pricey but no different to anywhere else in the Oxford area. Small busy pool area but adequate for needs. Changing facilities cleaner than poolside. A hot tub/jacuzzi would have improved the experience. The gym was very well equipped, clean and with air conditioning. All the staff at the Oxford Belfry were courteous and helpful from reception to dining/bar and room cleaning team. However I did not manage to find the 17 acres of woodland and stunning gardens which I was hoping to walk through and explore???

Thank you for your 4 star review, Mojo. The hotel is set in 17 acres which includes the grounds in and around the hotel. We don't have woodland I'm afraid. Glad you enjoyed your stay.

Adequate

Posted Aug 23, 2017
Pros: Clean, modern.
Cons: Monitor pool area and a bit more coordination at breakfast.
Location: There's a nice restraunt just down the road and the park and ride for Oxford is an easy trip.
The hotel was nice enough, staff except for at brekfast were excellent, the breakfast staff were a bit dissorganised. The pool area needed policing as there was roudy behavious from some guests disrupting the place for others. I'd not have rated it 4 stars, more like 3.5.

Hotel was ideal for visiting Oxford and the staff were excellent. However, for a 4 star hotel, the mattresses in the newly refurbished room had seen too much wear and needed replacing. Also the breakfast buffet was limited and you had to request extra items e.g. poached eggs that you would expect to be on a menu on the table in a 4 star hotel.
