Stunning location, comfortable room, amazing view
We arrived and were very happy with our room it looked comfortable enough and had the bonus of a stunning view across the lake. The room had a welcome fridge. It advertised free internet in the rooms don't be caught as the connection is for a dial up which went out with the ark. The internet is available on the telly for £5 per hour. So this was very disappointing. They were a bit mean on the extras, like 1 teabag, 1 biscuit, 1 hot choc, when they were filled up it was only with green tea so take teabags with you, the chamber maids don't understand a lot of english so they can't tell the difference. We stayed in one night for a meal and i have to say it was very good, they have a proper chef who cooks from scratch, not freezer microwave plate like most places. The grounds and the rest of the buildings were very disappointing as they were very run down, even gutted in places, balconies held up with acro props so not very encouraging. Asked if the place was being done up and the lady at the desk didn't know but seemed to be programmed to say very little. Seeing the disrepair of the place it made us very nervous to go out on to our balcony as we could see the wood there was rotten in places. This is such a shame as it could be a stunning hotel but it needs a lot of money spending on it. If they turned the lights out on rooms that were gutted they may save a little money and start doing much needed repairs. Would like to go back next year but i fear it will not be open.
