The hotel sits right across street from Lake Lugano, so our room has a commanding view of the lake and mountains beyond. The staff couldn’t be nicer, everyone was going out of their ways to help. The suite we got was amazing, valet parking was a breeze, and hotel restaurant was also impressive! All in all a fantastic property, and we loved our stay. Definitely will come back.

Hotel with heart
A dream romantic weekend away for my boyfriends birthday. The hotel was amazing every step of the way. after booking the hotel, I was in contact with them to make arrangements for a special birthday massage and dinner for my boyfriend, and they managed everything perfectly. When we arrived, the reception staff were so warm and welcoming. The superior rooms have an amazing view over the lake, and I am so glad that I booked it. That evening, to our surprise, the hotel had sent over a bottle of bubbly and an aperotivo snack selection, as well as a card wishing my boyfriend a happy birthday. The dinner was amazing and the staff in every restaurant and even at the spa, was outstanding. This hotel really has a warm personal touch, and I would highly recommend anyone who wants to visit Lugano, to stay here.

misleading pictures
The picture of the room ( standard room) is completely different from the room itself, room pictures are misleading, the picture shows the main hotel building but the room was in some other building connected to the main hotel which there is no picture of those rooms and building at time of booking, this building ( Anex) and the rooms in this building is 3 star room quality.

Our stay at Villa Castagnola...
We recently stayed at the Villa Castagnola for about a week. We loved going to their lido, which was much nicer than I had expected, in the morning to swim in the lake and hanging out in the garden in the afternoon to read, use the hydro-pool, etc. We also loved playing tennis one morning. We appreciated how gracious and hard-working the staff were. We think one small area for improvement could be for them to change up their breakfast buffet every few days (maybe the hot dish options). We enjoyed our time at Villa Castagnola, provided an ideal base for us to explore the Lake Lugano area and helped us to take a mental break from everything that is happening in the world.

stunning 5 star old world charm
Stunning 5 star hotel on Lake Lugano, beautiful rooms and grounds, including it's own Lido on the lake, a great place to relax and watch the world go by on the lake. We loved Lugano - old world Italian style charm, great good, beautiful park and promenade. The town, area and hotel felt informal and elegant.

Simply excellent! Breakfast service would need to implement breakfast sets as queuing in times of corona does not work... also paying extra for pouched egg etc, is not reasonable ... staff is very friendly and welcoming. Food is outstanding!

A scene tells everything: two doormen were at the door , when I push my luggages out without helping, then the concierge went to take my car, when the car arrives, the 2 doormen turn back immediately into the hotel, leaving me along with my luggage to load it myself? it is a joke, that tells long the attention they gave to the customers. Hotel is decent,, manager and Concierge( the only Swiss? )very good, but the staff are most foreigner from Italy or Southern or Eastern Europe, , so do not expect any Swiss quality on the service,. There are better choice at Lugano, Never again!

Wonderful atmosphere and very peaceful place! Definitely will back some time. There is a nice spa area with sauna and steam room, so don’t forget to bring your swimsuit. One a little minus is a morning coffee, I don’t like pour over coffee. One a little minus is a morning coffee, I don’t like when it serves in a kettle, but it is my personal anticipation.

Very nice hotel over all I was disappointed that even though it was half empty they did not up grated the room (which was expensive as it is) Many luxurious 5* hotels do that for you especially if you are celebrating an occasion For the price they charged it should be nice and encourage you to go back. It’s the little things that makes your experience good or great I wanted to visit this area again in the summer but that changed my mind :(
