Comfortable but dated hotel

Posted Sep 15, 2017
Pros: Convenient for Tintern and Wye valley, beautiful location with car parking and friendly staff.
Cons: Needs updating.
Lovely old hotel three minute walk from Tintern Abbey and great for walks in the Wye valley. Great breakfast and friendly staff.

Great location for Wye Valley visit

Posted Aug 6, 2017
Pros: Spacious rooms and lounge area. Friendly welcome.
Cons: Decor would benefit from an update
Location: Handy for both Chepstow and Monmouth.
Lovely gardens around rooms. Peaceful setting with easy short walk to Tintern Abbey and the river. Spacious car park. Nice breakfast with friendly service.

overall a nice hotel. The room was a little cold but was a good size and the bed was huge. didn't have much dealings with the staff, but they seemed nice and accommodating. The breakfast was a bit disappointing, not much out on the counter and the cooked breakfast was small. It was a little bit expensive as we didn't spend much time in the actual hotel, but it's in a stunning location and ideal if you are staying there for Chepstow races.

Lovely hotel in well kept gardens

Posted Jul 7, 2017
Pros: It was very quiet and clean and looks very pretty with all of the beautifully kept hanging baskets.
Cons: lounge could poss do with updating. As far as I can remember when booking there weren't any disabled rooms available so we took own bath grab handle
Location: Good location & easy walking from the hotel to the village which was good for my disabled husband but slope/steps down to one shopping area was steep
The hotel is in easy walking distance of the Abbey, shops, cafes, pubs and the River Wye. A very pretty area where you can either sit and enjoy the wonderful views or take walks up onto the hills looking down into the valley. Stunning!!!!!!!! We will definitely be staying at The Royal George hotel again.
