We arrived at this place and walked around a photographer taking photos of a couple who had just got married. No problem but the food from the wedding was still on the tables the next morning. The restaurant is open to the elements and monkeys come in to greet you for breakfast. The first hut we were shown by about 4 young boys, had gaps at the bottom of the door and was generally grubby and dirty. We said we had asked for a room in the main hotel, apparently there is not a main hotel. There are just huts and rooms on the other side of the road up a cobbly track about 200 mtrs away. Very dark at night. We were the only guests after a couple left after our first day.
They moved us to a new room on the opposite side of the road after we complained about the hut. This room was no cleaner. On the first night, there was a terrific bang and a fire began in the electrics. About 6 boys came with a fire extiquisher. It was put out, but we were not offered a new room. The bathroom was particulalry dirty. There were holes in the ceiling covered in tape, presumamly made by a animal.
We asked in the morning if they would call us a taxi. We were told they had no telephone numbers for taxis. The "supervisor" took us into Thissa at twice the normal cost of a Tuk Tuk. They intially wanted three times the going rate. My food was terrible, my husband had curry & that was passable.
They need to employ someone with experience if this place is to improve. The young boys are out of their depth.
Pros: The view
Cons: Cleanliness, hospitality, the grounds, staff training, tables clothes, bedding, food.
Location: This place has great potential in experienced hands. Needs money spent on it. It is remote so best if have own transport.
