First off, we arrived at 2pm and the hotel would not let us check in as the earliest check in time was 3pm. They had nowhere that we could rest or freshen up after 16 hours of travelling, so we went to sit in a local park for an hour and tried not to fall asleep.
Room was tiny (one side of the bed was against the wall to facilitate having enough room on the other side to get into it, meaning that the person on the wall side would have to either climb over the other person or scramble to the end of the bed to get out), though that's to be expected in central Tokyo. The bathroom, however, looked like it was lifted right out of a caravan - It was a cheap plastic box and the shower was a hose connected to the taps with water pressure that produced little more than a dribble - definitely not modern.
We were on the second floor so there wasn't far to go to the lobby, except we could not find steps down to the lobby anywhere and the lifts were constantly being called to floors above us and therefor had precedence when going up and were very often full on the way back down. They really need to clearly sign where the exits and steps are - Imagine if there were a fire!
