Compact hotel in a good location

Posted Feb 13, 2017
Pros: The staff are friendly and helpful, although communication in English was occasionally difficult.
Cons: The road immediately behind the hotel is best avoided but not a problem.
This is a small hotel with compact rooms. However, the room was nicely furnished, was comfortable and had all the essentials like a kettle, fridge, hairdryer etc. There are also computers and a printer for check in. The free WiFi worked well. Breakfast was good - both Western and Japanese options. It's in a quiet location, although the road immediately behind the hotel is a little sleazy - best avoided but not troublesome. My room had a nice view over the park. Ueno station is a 5 min walk, with several subway and JR lines. The hotel provided a good location for walks into interesting neighbourhoods to the North and East, as well as the museum and zoo. There were several good restaurants nearby, ranging from cheap and cheerful to more upscale. I would definitely consider staying here again next time I'm in Tokyo.

Excellent!

Excellent location -- Close to Keisei Ueno Station, which is convenient if traveling to/from Narita Airport. Exceptional staff and service. Breakfasts were also excellent. Spa, and other in-room amenities are also added bonuses. Also has laundry and microwave available for use. Rooms and facilities are small, but as expected. Views (of Shinobazu Pond) were also awesome.

Very Small but Nice Hotel in Great Location

Posted Nov 15, 2016 on Orbitz
Pros: Clean, Great Location, Friendly Staff, Included Breakfast, Good Amenities.
Cons: Very Small, No Storage Space.
Location: Ueno park has a zoo, several museums and a pond with boats. There are many shops and restaurants in the area and subway stations in every direction.
This hotel is very small, but it is comfortable, clean and convenient with a good price. The room was tight, but it worked out very well. I spent 3 nights here. Most of the rooms have a beautiful very of Ueno Park. It's directly across the street from the park, so it's relatively quite at night. The beautiful park has a zoo, several museums and a pond with paddle boats. It also has a small concert venue, which had one loud concert while we were there, but it ended by 10pm. The room had just enough room to walk around one side and the foot of the bed. There were no closets or drawers to store anything, so with our suitcases, it was pretty cramped. If they had room to store your suitcase under the bed, there would be a lot more room. The bathroom is tiny, like an airplane bathroom with a shower, and there is no room to set down a toiletry bag. The bed was slightly softer than the other beds I slept in in Japan, but it was still very firm. Everything was immaculately clean and comfortable despite the small size. The room had a hair dryer, coffee, massage pillow, tv, free wifi, and more. For the price, location, and the friendly staff, I would highly recommend this hotel.

Decent but inconvenient

Posted Nov 8, 2016
Location: Ueno Park has many interesting museums, especially the National Museum.
This hotel is good, but not great. The staff is very friendly and helpful, but their English and knowledge of Tokyo are limited. Western style breakfast is okay. Our room was cut off at one corner. It had no drawers whatsoever, but a good size closet and good bathroom. While it is across the street from Ueno Park with its many museums and temples, you need to take the subway to any other Tokyo attractions. The area around the hotel is not very nice: mediocre restaurants and what looked like cheesy clubs and bars. I would recommend this hotel to get a decent size room for a reasonable price, but sacrifice a good location.
