Absolutely amazing experience. What a beautiful property! Very high class vibe with many shops and restaurants on site, some on the higher end of the pricing scale. The hotel garden is picturesque at all times of the day/night giving some lovely opportunities for photos. The sky bar gives amazing views of the surrounding area, particularly at night once the lights come on. The various restaurant options on site cater for many different cuisines. Staff all super friendly and happy to help. Surround location is good, with Asakusa-Mitsuke station within a 5mins walk. Our room was a great size, with a nice large bed and large bathroom, perfect for relaxing in the bath after a long day on your feet exploring the Tokyo metropolis.

Situated within a stunning Japanese garden featuring koi, waterfalls, bridges, lakes and sweeping cherry trees. In light of the custom for small rooms elsewhere in Tokyo, The New Otani’s expansive rooms, corridors, hallways, retail floors, and dining areas are an absolute delight. Breakfast overlooking the garden was a particular high point as was the crystallised brown sugar packets, and free bath salts amongst many other toiletries. Highly recommend this hotel. Also, check out G’s Bar close by which is a wonderful stop of an evening for live jazz hosted by a lovely lovely barman-musoe.

While not for everyone, we liked the fact that it was a city within a hotel complex and a refuge after a long day of sightseeing. Great variety of restaurants in the hotel, excellent shopping. Extremely service oriented and beautiful lobby area and room.

After a 10 hour flight, this was the perfect place to get over jet lag. Set in picturesque gardens, the beauty is very apparent. I loved the Japanese breakfast and the seats with a view. The roof top bar provided a striking view. Staff was attentive. Jr suite spectacular

Despite being a very large property the New Otani fully merits its five-star rating. The staff were all very helpful, our room was exceptional - large, stylish and amenity-filled (although we never ventured into the traditional wooden soaking tub), and the grounds are extraordinary: a ten acre garden created 400 years ago by a samurai lord, complete with large waterfall and many koi ponds. The only downside is that it is not really in walking distance from interesting sites, but an abundance of waiting taxis makes up for that.

The location is near 3 trains, gorgeous grounds, multiple great restaurants and buffet dining overlooking garden. Fitness center is adequate better thsn most hotels, pool was closed. Reception and cleaning staff are top notch. Amenities j clude bathrobe, cotton robe, PJs, toothbrush, razor, facial cleanser and moisturizer, special long wash cloth, fluffy towels and amazingly confortable bed. I requested down pillows, otherwise their nirmal ones are too hard for my neck. The whole place is so quiet. Overall Tokyo is a quiet city considering the millions who live here. Rarely hear a horn or ambulance. I loved this hotel so much I decided to return 3 weeks from now, when my tour ends. You wont be disappointed. I stayed i. The New Otani Hotel complex itself is a large property with more than one hotel tower. Our stay in the Main building was pleasant. The staff is well suited to help tourists. The room was nice and had lots of space. There was no “VIP access” benefits as touted by Expedia nor the hotel, and, the hotel did not honor our affinity membership with New Otani due to the member number not being “in their system” despite me showing the digital card to them. The Tokyo metro is a five minute or so walk from the hotel, which is good since the surrounding area of the hotel seems to be mostly a commercial business office area, with very limited restaurants, shops or other visitor amenities. The sheer number of guests shows some strain on the staff. For example, they “lost” a reservation we made for one of the restaurants on property, and the male host at the restaurant was not at all friendly about it, which diminished any interest we had in dining in the hotel further. Overall the stay was pleasant, but the value received for the price paid could have been better.

The restaurants are pricey but the service and quality of the food are outstanding. The restaurants can be quite busy so make reservations. There are other restaurants and stores close to Akasaka-Mitsuke station. I recommend this property.

The hotel is magnificent. The room was large and the bed was comfortable. The shower tub room was large and the Japanese toilet is great! The breakfast buffet was excellent with a view of a beautiful Japanese garden while the upstairs 40 th floor restaurant had views of Mt Fuji in the morning. We visited Shibuya area easily on the subway. The hotel is central to many sites in Tokyo. I would definitely recommend staying at this hotel.

Love this hotel. It’s old-school, with big American-sized rooms, but it’s been maintained to a modern Japanese standard. Walkable to Yotsuda or Akasaka-Mitsuke stations, and Akasaka district.

One of Tokyo's grand hotels, the New Otani is almost a city inside the city. Besides top restaurants and elegant shops on the lobby level, be sure to check out the arcade of shops and restaurants in the basement level. I've been coming here for over 30 years, and the quality of service is the best.

Hotel New Otani was the first of 4 hotels we stayed in during our 2 week trip here in Japan. It is an older hotel in a quiet area, not many small shops or restaurants. It requires a short taxi ride to most destinations like Meji Shrine and Tokyo Station. The staffs were somewhat friendly. There were certain services reminiscent of a 5 star hotel such as bell service and doorman. The nicest aspect was the 400 year old Japanese garden. The worst part was the breakfast. We ate at the Garden Lounge at 5000 yen per person. It was the less experienced of 2 restaurants; the other being at 7000 yen per person, I believe. The price wasn’t the biggest issue but quality of food and selection and presentation. The day after, we decided to have breakfast at a different 5 star hotel and were surprised how much better it was for the same price as New Otani. As a tourist, I prefer a different location with more competitive amenities.

Very good value for the rate we paid. This hotel is unusual for the park like setting within which it sits, and for the view of the forested Imperial Residence which could be seen from our windows, although the lighted nighttime cityscape on the other side is just as impressive.
