My second stay at this hoyel. Quite spacious for Shinjuku. 15min walk to Shinjuku Stn West Exit but there's a hotel shuttle that runs every 20 min.

Excellent facilities and location

Posted May 24, 2017
Pros: Onsite laundromat, free shuttle bus and quiet location close enough to central area. Tea and coffee facilities in room thank you!
Cons: Wardrobe!
Location: Park across road. Walking distance to a number of supermarkets, dining x 1, 20 min to walk to central area.
Onsite laundromat, free shuttle bus to and from train station, 24 hour supermarket 2 minute walk. Quiet area but still close enough to central area. Comfortable beds and room size ok but no wardrobe at all and shower and toilet "room" a pre fab affair that you have to step up into! Tiny room but manageable. Female staff very helpful and friendly. Would stay there again!

Pleasant hotel with a lovely park over the road

Posted May 15, 2017
Pros: It was easy to get to, and has a lovely park over the road with a shinto shrine to visit.
Cons: Bed wasn't very comfortable.
Location: Great Izakaya not far down the road, and convenience stores just around the corner.
Only stayed one night before transit, but room was clean and tidy. Very strong cigarette smoke smell as soon as we walked in the front door of the hotel though, and have slept on more comfortable beds, but was ok. Shinjuku station shuttle bus was very handy in the morning. Good value for money.

Great basic hotel

Posted Apr 24, 2017
Pros: The staff, the price, and the location.
Cons: The lobby could be redesigned to be more attractive, and a few more room features added (e.g., closet, microwave). But the price would then increase.
Location: Location in Shinzuku is excellent - they have a shuttle to the train station, or you can easily walk. It is near beautiful parks and shrines.
Shinjuku New City Hotel is an excellent 'no frills' choice - extremely nice for a basic, utilitarian hotel. There is nothing particularly beautiful about the lobby, or the rooms, but everything worked the staff was efficient and helpful, and the location (less than a mile from Shinjuku Station, and near very nice parks) is excellent. The price we paid, in mid-April, was also hard to beat. This is the type of hotel that Japanese - especially business-people - will stay in, as opposed to an expensive tourist hotel. Finally, the breakfast buffet is not expensive, and the food is excellent. I would definitely stay there again.

15 min walk to Shinjuku station or free shuttle.

Posted Apr 23, 2017
Pros: Can walk through park opposite to Govt Metro building with free observation deck and subway station under.
Location: Few restaurants nearby, including Mc Donalds.
Older hotel but room is a good size for Japan. Had a great view out of the front rooms. Very good for the price.

Comfy & convenient

Posted Apr 3, 2017
Totally decent hotel conveniently located a 10 min (unencumbered) walk from Shinjuku Station, and close to lovely Chuo Park. Clean, quiet, all the needed amenities (including a small fridge), free Wifi, free frequent shuttle to and from Shinjuku station, all for an affordable price of around $115/night for two for a room without a nice view. The bed was comfortable enough, big enough for two healthy Westerners, and long enough for a 6´tall man. Non-smoking floor did not smell of smoke; in fact the lobby and common areas did not have that tell-tale stench which I very much appreciated. You could walk here with luggage via the underground tunnels if needed, but the shuttle starts running at 0700h and stops just before 2200h (no service from 1030-1500). There is a breakfast buffet (~Y1400) at the onsite Mermaid Restaurant, but I'd recommend either buying breakfast items the night before or hitting a little local café or a place in Shinjuku station, where you can get a full meal for half that price. Would definitely stay here again!

Quiet yet central...

Posted Apr 2, 2017
The location was perfect although we got turned around trying to find it. It was very quiet yet still walking distance to Shinjuku and the station. The staff were great and spoke English which made things easy. The allowed us to borrow a power converter so we could use our laptop. The rooms are small of course but very clean. It is the least updated hotel we stayed at in Japan but overall it was fine for our needs. There is also a Family Mart and 711 close by, both are 24hours.

Near the station.

The staff was great and was able to answer most questions. The resteraunt inside the hotel wasn't very great especially for the price. Every single floor had multiple vending machines. They kept on to your key for you would lose it.

the staff was very helpful, willing to help, room is big, shuttle to the JR station was excellent, but will be good if it can run from 12pm - 3pm as well.
