Alhambra setting says it allPosted Feb 3, 2016
Pros: We liked the way the place was renovated. Contemporary but respectful of the historical building and very special setting. Being part of the Alhambra.
Cons: Given the price and the isolation, it would have been nice to have breakfast included.
The most important fact about this hotel is that it is part of the Alhambra. You will be living within a walled compound on top of a hill isolated from the rest of Granada. The place is quiet, really quiet. And you wake up to a magical setting. Night walks are unique experiences. However, it is a trek to get anywhere, especially the trip home (the buses are frequent and convenient, but still...). The designers have done a masterful job of integrating contemporary features and materials with the gorgeous historical building. We stayed for four nights. In retrospect, maybe two nights would have been better.

Fabulous Historic HotelPosted Nov 13, 2015
Pros: Just about everything.
Cons: A ramp could be engineered and placed to be able to get to the front desk from the hotel garden would be helpful for guests and their luggage.
Location: Great location near Puerta de Alfonso VI.The property is convenient to escalators or ancient streets & alleys to explore wonderful Toledo.
What a treat - the hotel was a cinch to find, get to and check in. Grounds, gardens and buildings exude that rich classical Spanish Empire taste in design and decor- not sumptuous but graceful and elegant. Room was perfect in cleanliness and comfort and again the decor, furnishings and hardware made the room glow with the feel of the 17th century. Breakfast in the restaurant had a lovely selection to choose from. The hotel staff was simply excellent: professional, courteous and knowledgeable.

Schlechter ServicePosted Nov 3, 2015 on Hotels

A beautiful building, lovely gardens, ideally situated for the city. Would certainly stay there again.

Tour of southern SpainPosted Sep 22, 2015 on Hotels
While the surroundings are lush and the potential huge this shabby hotel leaves much to be desired. The furnishings are dated and in poor repair. The waiter at breakfast was surly and the meal itself unacceptable. I was kept awake both nights by wedding revelers until after 4. It was a huge letdown after our great experiences elsewhere. Too bad because the location is ideal.

Beautiful gardens, impressive building; well located near escalators with convenient parking. With some room refurbishment it would be great; little things such as painting the heating units and the front door, replacing bathroom vanities would make a difference. The breakfast was mediocre and the restaurant way over rated. But it's a very nice hotel with a lot of potential

Wonderful hotel. Great Restaurant.Posted Sep 15, 2015
Pros: All facets. Room was charming and pleasant. Restaurant was beautiful and the food was fantastic (Botin). Location is perfect to access the city.
Cons: For us, nothing.
Location: There are escalators to the city on one side of the hotel. The other side of the hotel offers a gate into the city. Everything is within walking.
Hotel is easy to get to with very close parking (hotel discounts). There is short term parking in front, but often the lot is full. The hotel is literally just inside the city walls and is built on several levels, so bags must be taken up several short sets of stairs and across cobbled plazas and courtyards. There are no elevators or ramps. Rooms are older and very traditional, but quiet and airy. Our view was onto the courtyard. We also had an internal courtyard and fountain just outside our room. There was a very large and festive wedding party that was well managed by the hotel (or by the wedding planners). It actually added to the ambiance of the evening and our stay. Dinner at the restaurant was fantastic. The hotel is owned by Botin Group which is known for its famous restaurant in Madrid. If you want the famous cochinillo, I would recommend you eat it here in the beautiful calm garden restaurant here vs always busy Madrid location.
