Edinburgh city hotel

Posted Aug 11, 2017
Pros: Clean, well kept well layed out hotel in prime position with first class staff
Cons: Don't see how you could improve this hotel really it even had a 24 hour bar.
Location: Hotel in prime location castle , fringe , shops , close by royal palace , Holyrod , And the royal yacht a bus ride away and many other places .
Hotel was in a perfect location , close to the castle and all major shopping centres We're within walking distance. But local bus service was first class, which also ran Right out side the hotel, our room was excellent very clean bedding towels etc As for staff we have never meet more happy helpful and polite group, nothing was to Much trouble for them on the front desk or in the restraunt, the food was excelant With a wide variety of choice we will be sure to return.

Great experience! A little hard to find the hotel at first because of the small signs.

Dear Kim Wonderful to hear that we ticked all the boxes for you and you had a delightful stay with us with the team offering you a seamless service and ensuring you had everything you needed. Due to historical nature of the building we are not allowed to put any bigger sign than we have. But we are currently working on with local council to come to a resolution We look forward to welcoming you back again the next time you visit our beautiful city. Perfect location is key

Posted Jul 21, 2017
Great spot for a visit to Edinburgh! We took the airlink to the castle, short walk to the hotel. Front desk guy gave us best directions to arthurs seat, we hit grass market and royal mile on the way and had an awesome view of the castle from below! Place looks old on the outside but is brand new on the inside. Small walk to main areas of what i think was old town!! I definitely recommend the upgrade to surprise youre woman if its her first time there....got great reviews for that myself ;)

Great Stay

Posted Jul 14, 2017
Our room was very clean, updated and quiet. Our booking was for a double bed and we actually had a king bed. Very comfy bed, too! The breakfast is good with a wide array of choices both cold and hot. The hotel is a 7-10 minute walk down to the Grass Market area where you find many many eateries. (There are other places to eat closer). The front desk staff is vibrant and very friendly. They made us feel very welcome in spite of the fact they were very busy. They took time to greet us each day and ask about our adventures. I hope I get a chance to return someday!

I love Scots!

Posted Jul 12, 2017
Pros: The location and the people. Fantastic!
Cons: There were no self-service laundry facilities. They only had a laundry service and it was very expensive. I just bought new shirts.
Location: Everything! Easy walking distance to anything you need. Tour buses stop close by, too.
I don't think our stay would've been as wonderful if it hadn't been for the people working the desk at the hotel. They were super friendly and really helpful. They gave us recommendations for where to eat, what tours to try, and always had an answer for every question. The hotel itself was a great mixture of old and new, and it was quite comfortable. Visitors from America need to remember that everything is smaller there--so you're not getting a suite at the Waldorf Astoria. Frankly, I'd rather have the total Scotland experience and NOT have a fancy room at a chain hotel. The location was great, the people were great, and I'll be going back when we visit Edinburgh again.

Dear Kirsten Many thanks for your kind comments and for taking the time to post your review. . I am delighted to read that you were impressed with the hotel, finding the central location convenient. It was very kind of you to highlight how helpful and friendly our reception team and other staff were during your time here and it will be my pleasure to let them know how much they were able to enhance your visit to Edinburgh by offering excellent customer service. With Self service Laundry facilities, 95% of the hotel in the UK, do not provide this facilities, but there are also Launderette facilities which we can direct the guest to get there Laundry done. Hopefully we can welcome you and your family back at some point soon. Kind regards, Sunny Verma General Manager

Nice Hotel is a quiet part of Edinburgh

Posted Jul 8, 2017
Pros: Location, condition, room size, helpful and friendly staff.
Cons: There is no AC in this hotel, windows only open so far. A ceiling fan or bigger fan (they provide fans) might be needed on a really hot day.
Location: The location is about a 10 minute walk from the grassmarket and the royal mile (the castle end).
The hotel offered us a very large family room where two adults and two older kids fit just fine, kids with separate beds as well! The location is close to the Royal Mile, but just far enough away to be in a quiet part of the city, with normal places to grab a bite to eat and two nice grocery stores to grab "cheap" breakfast food and snacks. I have a few logistical issues to solve with my rental car (problems with the rental company) and the hotel staff was very helpful in dealing with the rental company and the car pickup. Whenever I had a request, the staff was very helpful and were wonderful to work with, one of the few times I was never apprehensive about asking for help since it seemed the hotel staff enjoyed helping people enjoy Endinburgh.

Dear Brian Thank you for reviewing your recent stay with us. I will make sure your comments are passed on to our team so that they know their friendly and welcoming attitude does make a difference to each guest’s stay. Unfortunately because our hotel is a listed building we are not in a position to make the structural changes necessary to add air conditioning to all our rooms. Due to Safety regulation in UK, windows can only be opened to small degree but we do provide table fans in the room cupboard as highlighted in your review. I hope we can welcome you back in the future. Kind regards, Sunny Verma General Manager

Decent Hotel in a Historic Building

Posted Jun 15, 2017
The hotel is housed in the converted Edinburgh Royal Maternity Hospital which opened in 1879. You really can't fault them for a bit of street noise coming through the windows as there is only so much one can do with a building this old. Our room was somewhat small but was quite comfortable and contained all the modern conveniences you would typically want. Breakfast in the on-site restaurant was quite good and quite substantial. Overall a good stay.
