The place was okay, the breakfast was better than many, however, we wouldn't return for the following reason: The manager of the hotel demonstrated blatant discrimination to a young African American man in the breakfast area. She watched him as he was preparing his food, then came away from reception desk, and asked him for his room number. Then she told him he couldn't take his food back to his room, even though a white family had just done this. Not cool.

The check in was awkward, there was a guy that kept calling while I was checking in and it was shared that this guy was a guy that the manager of the property has a restraining order against. The fridge was unplugged and only found out because when we opened it smelled like something died in it. The windows were wide open and the rooms was about 40 degrees.

They never had enough clean towels for the pool. Customer service wasn't great. No one was at the desk and always had to hit the bell to get someone to maybe help you.

Step-by-step
Well, I’m gonna start with this step-by-step. I say that because there’s no freaking elevator and it’s only two stories but that’s something you should be informed about. Also, the fridge didn’t work. The AC was noisy and filters were disgusting but the biggest issue I had was that the comforter and bedspread were, nothing more than a summer blanket with no actual density or weight to it. That’s very offputting when you go to a place to get a good nights sleep,

The rooms seemed clean. The pool area is in need of repair and cleaning. Water sitting around the outside which instantly turned into ice when the temperature dropped. Trees were trimmed and left laying around. Breakfast was ok but not all that great.

Very clean, quiet, great location. Nice friendly staff, excellent complimentary breakfast. Cleanliness, safety and price are the three most important factors in a hotel for me. This one is very affordable, clean and safe. I would definitely stay here again.

The morning staff was absolutely amazing. The guy that checked us in was kind of rude, which was so unneeded after an 8 hour drive with a three year old. The hotel is very dated.

We had an impromptu stay on our drive back home from IN to CO. Front desk staff was very helpful and friendly. For a discounted hotel, we actually enjoyed our stay! There’s something to be said about how employees treat their customers in a positive and genuine manner - thanks team!

Overall terrible . Would not recommend , the old “lady” named “Jill” ; who is at the front desk, She is beyond incompetent , apparently has no idea how to handle good customer service . She is beyond rude. Hopefully she is able to find a new position that is able to suit her.

It was a great stay friendly staff ! I asked for something and they got it no problems!! The only think was the stink in the room and the food/ trash in the parking lot and looked like puke on the side door to go in ! I will stay here again the pool was great and hot tub was awesome! I stayed 2 nights and each morning was the same breakfast? I didn’t know if they changed it up or not but it was also god !!!

I wouldn’t recommend staying here. They did not adhere to the pet policy on either expedia.com or the best Western website, both of which say that an 80 pound dog could stay for $30. They insisted that their weight limit was 30 pounds and that for anything over that the pet fee was $50.so it cost me $20, which is not a huge deal, but the spirit in which I was told all, this was Kurt, and only marginally, courteous, punctuated by a smile that can only be described as insincere. The room itself was OK. The carpet on the stairwell, however, was filthy. Some reviews I had not previously seen mentioned bedbugs, and so I was actually reluctant to get under the covers, and so slept on top of the bed with my dog, which is not the best way to get a restful night sleep. if I’m ever in Topeka again, this is not where I will stay, nor would I recommend it to anyone else. The final and dignity, aside from the fact that there’s no elevator, is that they put my dog and me on the second floor. The lack of consideration was palpable.

Thank you for your feedback. Our pet policy does state that there is a 30 fee for each pet per night. The front desk does use their discretion depending on the size of the animal, and we are sorry that the front desk staff did not adequately relay that information. Additionally, we have pet rooms on both floors that are available for guests on a first come first serve basis. Thank you again for your feedback.

Great for a quick stay while traveling
Our stay was comfortable and quick. Front desk attendant was friendly and professional. She did the whole breakfast in the morming too which was a good variety of eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, waffles, cereal, yogurt, and fruit. Room was clean just outdated.

Worst in KS by far
My recent stay at Best Western SureStay in Kansas was a total disaster. The cleanliness of this place is deplorable. The lobby, covered in dust and sticky residue, set a terrible first impression. The room wasn't any better, with a nauseating odor and dirty, stained carpets. The bathroom was a breeding ground for mold, and towels and sheets looked downright unsanitary. Dust coated every surface in the room, and the furniture was worn-out and battered. The curtains barely clung to the rod, letting in unwanted light. The Wi-Fi was agonizingly slow, and the complimentary breakfast was a sorry excuse for a meal. The staff showed no concern for the state of the hotel. Reception was indifferent, and attempts to address room issues were met with half-hearted apologies. Overall, my experience was a regrettable one, and I strongly advise against choosing Best Western SureStay in Kansas for your stay.

Staying at this property was the worst decision I could have ever made. I was transferred to four different rooms due to cleanliness not being up to par. I settled with the fourth room we were placed in because it seemed like it was the best I would get. There were blood stains on sheets and shower curtains as well as dirty desks in every room. I was also woken up by house keeping at 10 AM to be told that check out was at 11 AM like I wasn't already aware (as if they were doing their jobs anyway.) I drove 11 hours the previous night to make it to that nightmare of a stay. I would rate my stay a negative number if I could & wouldn't recommend this property to my worst enemy because it is simply so unsanitary & workers are rude.
