Nice staff, miniature rooms
Posted Oct 18, 2016
The hotel generally meets the standards of a Holiday Inn as far as cleanliness, staff helpfulness, and things like modern finishes. The room was absolutely miniature, though. I've stayed in many hotels in Toronto in this price range, and this was by far the tiniest. The only time I have ever stayed in a smaller room was in one of those executive hotels in Japan, where it is literally just a bed and a bathroom, with a couple feet of floor space to walk between the two.
We had originally requested a room with two double beds, and we asked for a crib. When we arrived, we were told the rooms with double beds couldn't also fit a crib. They were able to move us to a room with a king size bed, which would allow for a crib to fit (barely). In the end, it was very cramped. If you are traveling alone with only a small amount of luggage, it would probably work, but for two or more people, it will be cramped.
Another issue was that the air conditioner was a window unit. Because of this, it was impossible to close the window, so street noise kept us up all night.
One other small issue, the website said there would be a microwave. We assumed this meant in the room. But no, none of the rooms have microwaves. Instead, the hotel has two microwaves located in a utility room on the second floor. It's an okay solution, but not ideal.
Summary: Clean rooms, nice finishes, friendly helpful staff, but the rooms were uncomfortable and didn't meet expectations. We won't stay here again.
