Good location and staff, but improvements needed

Check-in was efficient. Location is good.
The rooms however were a bit dirty (easily visible due to the wooden floors), and quite prone to sound leakage from adjacent rooms.
Some of the rooms had undergone modernization, which implied - among other things - that the door for the shower stall had been removed in order to apparently create a "cleaner", more streamlined look. This however had a adverse impact in that it caused large amounts of water to spill into the bathroom after a regular shower; and most of your towels would be needed in order to soak it up afterwards.
Luckily though, there were rooms where this "improvement" had not been implemented yet. The showers all had non-movable shower heads.
Room cleanliness can also be improved upon, as two of the rooms I stayed in had hairs and nail clippings visible on the floor, which were removed only after manually notifying housekeeping.
The issues with noise were the worst though, and is not something I have encountered in a hotel in this price range, which is rather high considering the amenities offered. If anyone next to you is talking, or has the TV on at medium-to-high volume, this can easily be heard throughout the walls. It does not have even the most rudimentary form of sound-proofing and is something which needs to be addressed.
The staff were very helpful though wrt. finding a room which did not have occupants next to it, but it was rather unusual that this would be an issue in a reasonably modern hotel.
