Comfortable hotel, well located - but some flaws
Posted Oct 13, 2016
I was in one of the older rooms - they're in the process of renovating, so this doesn't reflect the new ones.
My room was pretty comfortable, reasonably spacious, clean... not a lot of faults with the room itself.
However, lack of sound-proofing was a major fault - through the connecting doors, I could hear conversations in the room next door as if I was in it (unsurprisingly, given there's a 2cm air gap below the door). The corridors weren't much better - there were some noisy guests down by the elevator in the evenings, and I could hear them far too clearly as well.
The second fault - no free WiFi in the rooms. Seriously, that shouldn't be an extra (that you charge ridiculous rates for), especially when I'm paying that much money a night for the room. Backpacker hostels have free WiFi - but an upmarket hotel doesn't? This would have been a deal-breaker if I'd known about it before booking - charging for internet access might have been acceptable ten or fifteen years ago, but not now.
