From arriving to departure everything was great. Everything you needed at the hotel. Food drinks facilities are brilliant. Reception staff to house staff not one issue. They accommodate you

A Nice Hotel in a Landscaped Tropical Setting

Pros: The friendly, pleasant staff who were a delight to deal with. We liked the the relaxed, landscaped nature and open architecture of the hotel..
Cons: The bathroom had a sliding, mirrored door and no extractor fan which is unusual - but this turned out not to be a problem. Who'd have thought?
Location: It was a reasonable walk to a nearby large shopping centre and, on the opposite side of the hotel, a closer walk to fast food outlets.
We experienced excellent, efficient, friendly and helpful staff. We dined in the restaurant where there was a wide choice of food that was consistently excellent and a broad choice of wines and beers. The buffet breakfast was very good with an extensive choice of foods and beverages that were regularly replenished. Each day, our unit was cleaned to a high standard. We had a relaxing stay with access to two pools and grassed areas in the extensive landscaped grounds reminiscent of an island setting. The outside perimeter garden and lawn surroundings were affected to some degree by the water restrictions that apply in Townsville but the interior gardens and lawns were well kept and very pleasant. The living/sleeping area had a wall of four sliding, mirrored doors which covered the areas for the refrigerator and microwave, and the space for hanging our clothes; one of the mirrored doors served as the bathroom door. The bathroom was relatively large. A fault with the toilet cistern was repaired with a replacement part within half-an-hour of notifying reception on our first morning that there was an issue.with the cistern slowly refiling after flushing.

Overnight stay on short trip to Townsville

We selected somewhere near the airport as we had early morning departures. I didn't spend a lot of time at the hotel although I found it friendly, relaxed and comfortable. The open spaces, pool and gardens had the feel of a resort. My room was clean, simple and comfortable.

Gorgeous Setting

Pros: Everything, especially the fresh quality meals.
Location: Take away restaurants were within the close vicinity.
I stayed at the Mecure whilst attending training for work. I felt as though I was having a little mini holiday, such beautiful surrounds, extremely clean and comfortable room together with fantastic food. All staff were professional and friendly. Also good value.

Good value Hotel

Adequate for a business trip. Good value. Room average, but atmosphere in the gardens etc was good. Interesting layout & open air reception area. A bit out of the way, but fair selection of eating places nearby. Staff in restaurant for breakfast were helpful to meet my slightly different needs. Noisy aircon outside bathroom window.

I come up to Townsville once a year and always stay at the Mercure. Great location, friendly staff and great food all at a very affordable price.

Pros: Big clean room. Comfortable bed. Great location.
Cons: Better Movie Chanel or make DVD's available.
Location: Close to the city and access to Magnetic Island. Close to shopping centres.
Stayed 7 days. Room clean and spacious. Great view. Enjoyed the daily visit by the ducks. Close to the city and amenities. Staff friendly and helpful.

I did not enjoy my stay at all.

Pros: Great variety of food for breakfast Paula whom worked in the restaurant was wonderful. went out of her way to help me. Food at the conference- good
Cons: Staff need to communicate with one another , as I was asked 3 times to pay for my breakfast. Need a top up of shampoo/conditioner left in the rooms
Location: Local shopping centre - about 10-15min walk
The place is very noisy. Reception staff wanted to charge me for breakfast even though I had booked it on line. I also asked reception staff where was the nearest restaurant, shops etc, they stated they didn't know. When I arrived for breakfast, once again staff wanted to charge me, luckily I had the paper work to support my on line payment. Toilet roll holder was broken, and fell on the floor, cleaners put it back onto the clip and it fell down again. No hot water, although this did get fixed the next day The tap over the sink sprayed water over myself and the floor. Cleaners did not replace the shampoo/conditioner at all. Upon exiting, reception once again wanted to charge me for breakfast, of which I had to present them with the paper work. Room smelt damp, although it did rain heavily. Place is way too noisy, not good if you want an early start. The rooms are surrounded by the pool and a bar, hence the noise
