Our house was built in the late 1800's and holds the original farmhouse charm. There is plenty of room to relax both indoors and outside in the large (irrigated) lawn. Enjoy a morning coffee on the front (sunrise side) porch or have a great dinner on the back patio. The area is private and quiet, you can listen to the cascade of the pond and relax. This home location offers close proximity to the excitement of downtown but still has the privacy that comes with living on the quiet edge of town. A 10-15 minute walk or couple minute bike ride gets you to the heart of downtown Leland.

There are also many other beautiful places to kayak such as the Cedar River or any of the inland Park Lakes like School Lake, Bass Lake, Shell Lake, Little Traverse, etc. The public beaches are very accessible and have clean, clear water. Leland Get Away House
Beautifully updated and clean, maintained farmhouse with excellent location; close to Leland proper, beaches, Lake Leelenau and country roads, yet offers a retreat for treasured family time. Plenty of room and bedrooms for a family of two parents and their five adult children. Fully equipped kitchen, new grill, laundry on site, beach towels provided. Wonderful bath towels! We enjoyed the front porch for coffee in the morning and back wooded deck with a water feature for appetizers and dinner. We brought a citronella candle for the outdoor dining table. Lovely! And bonus, bikes and kayaks are provided. We didn’t get to use the kayaks, but we did bring some bikes and borrowed theirs for a great 15 mile tour around Lake Leelenau. Thanks for sharing Mike!

3/5 Okay

Very clean house with everything included, not fully Air Conditioned and Poison Ivy
Overall, we did enjoy our stay. The house was clean and had everything provided. However, in the House rules left for us, it stated there was poison ivy in the front yard by the fence. One of the adult males, who was never in the front yard, got poison ivy on both his legs and his face retrieving a basketball in the brush around the basketball court in the back yard. That was on Tuesday so his stay was miserable for the rest of the week - he was very uncomfortable. One of the factors on choosing this house was it was listed as having air-conditioning and close to town. However, the room for the kids with bunkbeds had no AC and the window had no blinds so the kids were up at the crack of dawn because the room was light/bright. The window had to be kept open in the room which was concerning being on the second floor with little ones - not safe with screen being exposed! The other kids room with twin beds had a window unit with curtains, but you couldn't close the curtain with the AC on so it was also light/bright in the room. Also the second floor was not air conditioned so it was very warm in the second floor bathroom. There was a ceiling fan (above the steps) for the second floor that did not work. I think it should have stated very clearly what was NOT air-conditioned since it said in the listing that it had AC. The water had a stench to it so it was not pleasant taking a bath, shower or brushing teeth. It also stated in the listing that you could walk to town. Unfortunately, we had little ones and the house was on the main street with cars flying by so it was not safe to walk with them. The walk was longer than anticipated into town - 15 to 16 minutes for adults without children. We would not stay again due to the poison ivy situation, the lack of AC in the kid's room and the safety factor with the window having to be open and the screen being exposed on the second floor.

Cozy and homey
The farmhouse was everything we could’ve wished for during our short but very enjoyable stay in Leland. The house was very clean, comfortable, and felt like a home away from home for us. Mike did a wonderful job of keeping in touch when needed, and we would definitely recommend families or those who are thinking of a couples’ weekend to check it out, as it’s so close to the beaches and wineries in the area.

Lovely home, great experience
The house is spacious, very very clean and well-equipped with everything we needed. The gardens and landscaping are gorgeous, especially for those of us who live in the desert! Mike was an excellent host and provided us with prompt answers to questions and information about the area. We'd gladly stay there again.
