Our house was built in the late 1800's and holds the original farmhouse charm. There is plenty of room to relax both indoors and outside in the large (irrigated) lawn. Enjoy a morning coffee on the front (sunrise side) porch or have a great dinner on the back patio. The area is private and quiet, you can listen to the cascade of the pond and relax. This home location offers close proximity to the excitement of downtown but still has the privacy that comes with living on the quiet edge of town. A 10-15 minute walk or couple minute bike ride gets you to the heart of downtown Leland.
Included in this rental is an outside shed with storage space, beach chairs, three adult sit-on-top kayaks, multiple coolers, beach shovels, beach umbrella, skim boards, etc. for your enjoyment. There are also a couple adult bikes and one kids bike available for use. The small pond has a few small waterfalls and fish in it. It is perfect for all ages. There is ample parking in the paved circle driveway. Bring your boat, there is room to park the trailer. Fishing opportunities are endless in the county.
A bike ride around Lake Leelanau is 14.5 miles with stops in the towns of Lake Leelanau and Leland. There are many accesses to kayak in Lake Leelanau or Lake Michigan. There are also many other beautiful places to kayak such as the Cedar River or any of the inland Park Lakes like School Lake, Bass Lake, Shell Lake, Little Traverse, etc. The public beaches are very accessible and have clean, clear water. Catch a fishing charter out of Historic Fishtown or take the Manitou Ferry Service out to North or South Manitou Islands (part of the National Park Service). There is shopping of all kinds available with each town offering its own personal touch. There are so many opportunities when you are surrounded by water.
Leland is a safe place for the kids to experience independence. There are farmers markets and fruit stands and many ways to access local. Take the famous M-22 corridor to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park. Traverse City is only a 30 thirty minute drive and offers a larger scale entertainment venue. With the National Cherry Festival, Wine festival, Micro-brew festival, Music festival, Film festival, Epicurean Classic, and many others, there is always something going on nearby. Old Mission Peninsula offers an additional peninsula to explore full of wineries, vineyards, restaurants, and beautiful views of East and West Grand Traverse Bay Lake Michigan.
