An old lady by the river

Posted Apr 14, 2017
This hotel is beginning to show its age. Rooms are clean, but shabby, and not in a charming Shabby Chic way. The bathroom are in need of an undate, and the carpets and decor are tired. Older model TV on a low shelf. There is a lot of light around the door frame and the locks are not very secure. The staff was friendly and attentive, but I wouldn't stay again.

No internet

Posted Apr 10, 2017
Internet was down for the weekend. Had to use my own wifi hotspot and minutes on my cell plan. Had to wait for coffee in the lobby in the morning. Not ready made.

Unclean room

Posted Apr 4, 2017
Pros: Front desk staff, comfortable beds
Cons: Making any kind of effort to clean rooms.
Location: Were there for a softball tournament
On arrival, the front desk staff was very nice. At first I thought the room was okay. However, some time later when I first used the restroom, I realized that the cleaning staff had not fully cleaned the restroom. There were new towels, but there were used, uncleaned cups & used soap on the sink & in the shower. I decided to let it slide & live with it. The next morning at the restaurant for the complimentary breakfast (not great), the hostess was pretty rude & unfriendly. She seemed a bit put off that we asked for water. We didn't go back there for breakfast the second morning, however our friends did & said that she was much more friendly & accommodating that day. The real kicker for our experience was that we left that first morning around 9am, were gone all day, returning around 10pm & our room hadn't been touched. No cleaning at all. I'm not a very picky person, but some soap, more coffee, clean cups, etc, would be nice. Honestly, I would sleep in a tent before I would go back there. Not good On a positive note, the beds were comfortable.

Kind of false

Posted Mar 20, 2017
Online stated lounge, there was none. Online said full breakfast, it wasn't. It was spacious and clean. But online description was deceiving. No bar/lounge.

Thank you for taking the time to review our property. However, I must point out an error. The Shilo- Richland Washington does have a very large lounge/Bar with a beautiful patio overlooking the river. It is open everyday with the exception of Sunday. We also provide a hot breakfast which includes sausage, scrambled eggs, biscuits & Gravy, pastries, cereal, coffee and orange juice. Thank you very much for your feedback and I will pass on the information to the restaurant owner.

Close to river nice view friendly staff

Posted Mar 17, 2017
Pros: love the river view and the staff, the diner was great and oddly enough the pillows have been my favorite thus far from all the other hotels.
Cons: Upgrade the old girl she needs more than a little paint, she needs a honest maint engineer and some $$ put in to her.
Location: close to the freeway to get around to outlying locations, golf course is right next door and can get out and jog along the river trail.
Super friendly and helpful staff! and by far the best pillows I've had at a hotel so far. The hotel itself though is in dire need of upgrade and maintenance, most of the repairs are definitely not done by a professional which makes it look half a$$ed, I wonder if they have a true maintenance engineer because the hot tub has debris in the bottom and doesn't jet properly, the steam room didn't work well and the weight room is an old universal machine and a outdated treadmill, really could use some more weight equipment. The place you can tell used to be awesome and aside from water stains, chipped paint etc. etc. the staff was superb and it is great to actually have a real breakfast and not a lame buffet with fake eggs, the diner also was very good and was a very reasonable $$ it was cheaper and better than going out to someplace to eat! The doors to the rooms really need to be upgraded from the old fashioned key style and they need the additional security locks aside from just a dead bolt. I travel a lot and I will definitely stay there again because I love the location along the river and the staff as well as the food, I worked for years with a Marriott's convention center and its just sad to see this Shilo to be in such disrepair :( "note to Shilo...you could really make the place amazing again to where it sets itself apart from all the other hotels in the area and you have un-used potential with that river view in the back"

Quiet, close to golf. Close to good walking trails

Free breakfast was good.check in quick. The furnace and bathroom fan were overly noisey. Some weird pad in the bed made it a bit uncomfortable

Thank you very much for your comments. Unfortunately, we are not always able to honor all requests. We did have a group in this weekend that had reserved all the Jacuzzi suites. There are a limited number available, and they book quickly. Hopefully, next time there will be one open for you. Thanks
