If you don't want to sleep in your car
The motel has recently changed hands and the new owners were in the process of renovation, was the explanation for the condition of the motel. The gutted rooms and blocked-off common areas certainly suggested serious efforts to do something. The lack of television service, the flaky wi-fi, the fearless roach, and the inoperative ice machine indicate loss of control at a different level. All-in-all, $65 a night for a warm, dry bed with a working shower in this remote corner of the Tennessee mountains is not unreasonable. The people I dealt with pleasant and helpful, if heavily accented, and seem to run an honest shop. If the situation dictated, I would stay there again.
