Wonderful staff with clean facilities

Posted Jul 19, 2017
I thought from the website it had a view of gorge but it does not. What it did have was an ideal location to access the wonderful gorge, falls and access to freeways if needed to go to Portland

Good location for Columbia Gorge Recreational Area

Posted Jul 4, 2017
Cons: Label breakfast items, especially meat gravy that looks like oatmeal.
We liked the location to recreational area and the value due to decent breakfast (except for labeling meat items).

Delighted that you were able to visit our beautiful Columbia River Gorge! - we are very glad to have you here. Your point is well taken about the sausage gravy for the biscuits... it certainly could be taken as oatmeal at a glance, and I hope you didn't get a mouthful before realization hit. I have emailed the hotel to check on Standards and see what we can do about labeling the gravy. Hope to see you again the next time you're this way! All the best, Loree

Convenient for access to East Portland, The Gorge

Posted Jun 28, 2017
Pros: The breakfast was really good. The room was mostly comfortable. Easy access to I84 freeway without the noise.
Cons: The temperature control could be better
Overall, comfortable, good value for the price. Although very close to the freeway, it was quiet. View from the window not particularly pleasing, but not a problem as we didn't spend that much time in the room. We found the room temperature difficult to regulate, but not to the point of being uncomfortable.

Thank you, Steve. We are glad to have you here, and I'm happy that showed in our breakfast and the comfort of your room. I hope that you let us know about the difficulty with the temp regulation so we could get Jaime up to check out the AC unit for you, and I'm glad that it was not uncomfortable. See you the next time you're Portland / Columbia Gorge way! All the best, Loree

Do not stay at Comfort Inn

Posted Jun 25, 2017
Pros: nothing
Cons: more concern by management and staff
Location: great restaurants within 5 minutes
Bathroom light burned out first night, took two days to replace, front desk showed no concern had to be asked three times. Room had distinct smell of dirty socks, and musty odor throughout halls and stairway.

Lucy, I am very sorry that we didn't get your bathroom light changed for you immediately, and that the halls did not smell fresh to you. Neither of those things are usual, and I am distressed this was your experience. We have already followed up with staff, and thank you for your feedback. All the best, Loree

Rude desk clerk.

Posted May 28, 2017
Pros: Original rate on Expedia was good.
Location: Remote location from Portland. 20 minutes out. Stayed at edge of Portland and found more stores and restaurants.
I booked 7 days through Expedia. When I arrived the desk clerk asked me to initial to ensure payment of the rate for 7 days, but two of the days were not listed--the last two. I said I would sign the document if all days were listed. The clerk told me that was not possible as their system did not print days that had duplicate rates. Then why are you asking me to assure payment for days not listed? She said the rate was the same as the first two days--three or four times. Like I could not understand her. I understand perfectly what it means to sign a contract. Here is our rate--you agree to pay it. Very simple. If you do not list the rate for some days, that is not included in the contract. Simple--what is contained within the four corners of the document is what I am liable for--what is not stated is open to interpretation. And REPEATEDLY saying your system does not print ALL of the days implies either you think I am ignorant, with diminished capacity, or worse yet, "too old to understand you." The latter appeared to be the case. After going to my car to make a phone call, I went back in and said I would sign the document for the days listed in it and we would go elsewhere for the two days not listed in the contract. The clerk quoted a considerably higher rate. She explained that said she could not honor the original Expedia reservation since I was requesting fewer days and she would have to charge me the "hotel rate."

I am so very sorry for the issues at check-in - I know that our GM called and I messaged you that night when we heard from you and the hotel, and I am sorry that we were not able to resolve this to your satisfaction - thank you for speaking with Stephanie. We should have immediately written and initialed the additional rates that the system didn't print for you and avoided the entire problem. After that, while it's true that we can't override the length of stay for an Expedia promotional rate reservation, we also should have called Expedia to accomodate the change you requested. We have spoken with the front desk person and, again, our offer for a complimentary night is still open at any time that you're our way. This is not usual, and both Stephanie and I regret that it happened. All the best, Loree

Second time in as many years staying here and we will stay whenever we are in town. Comfy bed, easy access to the gorge! Didn't use the spa, breakfast was good.

Great Place

Posted May 8, 2017
Pros: Rooms were very nice, good breakfast and great location.
Cons: Nothing comes to mind.
Location: DQ next door. Outlet mall is very close as well as several restaurants and fast food places. Easy to get back on to Interstate 84.
First time staying @ the Comfort Inn - Columbia Gorge Gateway. Had a great experience, will be stay there again if the need arises. Easy access to and from interstate. Check was quick and the room was clean, in great shape and spacious. Breakfast was also very good. Biscuits, gravy, bacon, eggs, waffle maker, cereal and fruit. No problem with noise overnight.
