Excellent hotel close to the best in shopping!

Hotel is always so accommodating and is in close proximity to the best shopping on Kowloon. This hotel never disappoints.

It was dusty and old!!!

Pros: its very very convenient and cold and good view.
Cons: THE ROOMS!!!
Location: A lot!
It was dusty and old already... ceiling is really low. When you close the door black things fall down from the exhaust fan! I woke up with itchy throat every morning bec of the dust. The carpet needs to vacuumed using industrial strength. Better English speaking people to answer the phone for room service etc.

Nice hotel, convenient location, bad musty smell

Pros: Its location
Cons: the vendilation system throughout the hotel and especially the rooms
Location: Shopping is convenient and if you run out of cash, the banks are nearby.
The hotel has a really bad musty odour - the entire hotel, including my room. Was a terrible experience because we have sensitive noses. Our room was especially pungent, the stink gave us a constant headache so we spent as much time out on the streets as possible. The blankets are all damp and musty. The kind staff changed rooms for us but it's the same state, so I think the odour applies to most of their rooms. The hotel itself is decent, at a convenient location - we booked due to its location. The hotel staff are also nice and helpful. However, we will not go there again and will advice our friends not to go there because of the strong musty odour which shows a lack of thorough cleaning. It is very bad for our respiratory system. The hotel need to purchase some dehumidifiers, which, I buy for all my vacation houses in tropical countries. They are good for removing excess moisture which is a breeding ground for germs. Or the hotel needs to fix the air/vendilation system of the hotel- the hotel structure is too old.

Nice hotel convinantly located in the heart of TST

Musky rooms

Pros: Nothing except housekeeping. Cafe staff not friendly and cold. Front Desk short staffed. Room musky. Windows all covered up.
Cons: I will NOT stay here again.
Using the excuse of being next to the harbor is lame. They had 1 dehumidifier on the 9th floor and it wasn't on. The musky air in my room would not dissipate. I was moved to another floor and the moldy environment improved somewhat, but overall it was still damp and musky throughout the properties. Part of problem might have been exacerbated by having most of the windows covered due to building exterior renovation. The Marco Polo Hotels should have been experienced enough to monitor the air quality in their properties. Relying on guests complaints to alert them of problems is just unprofessional. I had always chose the Prince which was another hotel operated by Marco Polo and the Prince has a better team than the Hongkong Hotel's. I picked this one because it was a quarter mile closer to the Star Ferry. Wrong decision. The hotel and the Ocean Terminal Mall share elevators, so guests will have to insert the card key before selecting any room floors and the card reader in some cars was having problems reading the card keys. I bumped into another gentleman who had already gone up and down once while he was having trouble getting his card read. This was not my first stay at this property, but is probably my last.

Good location

Room was little tired. They are in middle of maintance outside, so windows were taped and scaffolding out side of window. Would stay again

Loved this Hotel!!!

Pros: Service
Cons: Be sure tub is cleaned on a daily basis. I stayed 9 days and one of the days it got wiped not cleaned.
This is my first time visiting HK with my family, we loved the hotel. Everyone here is very helpful and they are always ready to help you with anything that you may need.

A bit disappointing

Marco Polo Hong Kong has always been one of my favorites in Hong Kong. However, this time two things did not impress me: (1) the service at the front desk was not the exceptional level that I was expecting, and (2) the hotel is doing renovations and there was a smell on the corridors when going to the room. Again, with better service (and apologizing for the reno, acknowledging the smell etc.) I would have felt better.
