Nice getaway

Posted Sep 15, 2017
We're from Tucson and just wanted an easy getaway for a few days. The Tubac Resort is close but seems far away from the hustle and bustle of the city. We played some golf (one 9 suffered from the summer heat we think but the other was in good condition). The food at the restaurant was excellent. The staff at the whole resort was prompt and courteous. We will be back for another getaway.

It' supposed to be "Hospitality", not "Hostility".

Pros: Locatio9n
Cons: See above
Location: Tubac is a fun village to spend the entire day touring.
We've stayed here before and had a much better experience. The furnishings are aging--leatherette peeling off of sofa, throw rugs fraying, the gas fireplace was broken, etc. The worst part is either the staff doesn't understand English or simply choose to act like they don't so they can interpret request in a way that is convenient to them. For example. On the second evening of our stay, we decided to order room service for dinner and eat on the patio, which had a nice view of the golf course. And once we swept the beetles out from under the screen door and put a wedge under the patio table to keep it from rocking and spilling our drinks, it was acceptable. We called room service at 4:45 pm and wanted to order a burger and a club sandwich. We were told that those items were not available after 4pm. Even though there was absolutely no mention of that restriction on the menu or in the services book. So we called the front desk. Were told that wasn't correct and she would call us back. After 45 minutes we called again. She apologized that she had forgotten to call the kitchen, in ten minutes the food manager called and took our order. Our food arrived about 6:45, it was dark outside because the sun was down, so we ate in our room watching Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. There were other minor incidents of poor communication, but that was the worst. On the plus side; It was my wife's birthday and a nice birthday card and bottle of wine (screw-top) waited on the side bar. Too bad.

Pros: One of the best stays we have ever had.
Location: We enjoyed the old mission ruins and the beginning of the DeAnza trail. We study history as a hobby, and there is plenty of it in Tubac.
A beautiful hotel, fantastic room, great views. The lovely golf course made the place very quiet (though we are not golfers). Green spaces abound and there is a good restaurant (try the salmon oscar).
