Brightly colored building in Tucson's Old Town, the Barrio Viejo. It was such a treat to catch this woodpecker peeking out of a saguaro cactus, checking out what was going on outside.
http://www.liferidingshotgun.com/2015/01/things-to-do-in-tucson-az.html The Barrio Viejo (or Barrio Historico) in Tucson, just south of downtown. The fabric of the neighborhood has retained some of its 19th century character, with thick adobe walls and colorful doors. Some buildings are derelict--some seemed intentionally so--and many others have been renovated, painted, and house artists' studios or lawyers' offices. It's the most fascinating part of Tucson. Just wondering if anyone reads these....
My favorite relaxation spot. Under my prayer flags on the backporch....this day I had a visitor.
Stop by and say hello...
(No, you cannot have my address lol) I found this tarantula in Sabino Canyon and I picked it up on a stick and moved it to a rock where I could take some photos. This was a huge spider that i thought was very interesting. Spend enough time in the desert and you are bound to see some interesting creatures. This was a 3 or 4 inch desert centipede that i located under a cactus. I have never seen one so I was reluctant to handle it even with gloves. If I encounter something I am not familiar with I just leave it alone. A picture of the desert sunrise from just outside of Tucson. I thought the colors would be more pink and red but I sure enjoyed being out there. Just colorful buildings of Tucson #BestOf5 Sunset over Tucson, Arizona.
This photograph was taken from the Saguaro National Park looking toward the city. One more photo of the Sonoran desert around Tucson. #localgem
Cristate or Crested Saguaro...
Science has yet to figure these giant beauties out.
Did a lightning strike cause this, is it a deformity?
I think they are amazing and am thrilled with each new find... #explore #arizona and don't forget to take your camera. So many great spots to capture great #landscapes. Look at this view! No filter!! I wish more of the rainbow showed through, but c'mon... these shots make themselves! I didn't eat here but a pretty cool huge Tiki hut a lot of bars and restaurants on this road also. the most amazing sunsets ever! Some amazing cheap breakfast all the college kids at U of A come here. Giant pancakes and some very good omelettes come give it a try. Coffee, treats, and gorgeous decor at Cartel Coffee Lab. Locations also in Phoenix, Scottsdale, etc.
More on http://www.ajauntwithjoy.com Many hiking opportunities outside Tucson, hiking to the seven falls here. About a two hour hike. Refill your water bottle in the falls themselves. Crystal clear! It is part of the Bear Canyon Trails in the Santa Catalina mountain range. You can take a bus until the pavement ends then begin the hike. The sun after the rain! Unique pedestrian bridge. It continues on to the other side of the road, where its rattle rises up out of the sidewalk. A bit unwelcoming and very noisy, but cheap. I wouldn't stay here again, but if you're on a super tight budget this is one option with a good location.
More on http://www.ajauntwithjoy.com In the older part of downtown Tucson we found this authentic Mexican restaurant and I liked this outside wall.
We did not eat here, but any visit to Tucson must include some Mexican food. An iconic Tucson view with Prickly Pears in the foreground and the Tucson Inn in the background. The starting point of Neon row. #Green The Tucson Zoo is a great Zoo even though it is relatively small little cottontale bunny Taking the trail to the seven falls. The final destination has pools large enough for swimming and there are about seven stream crossings to get there. This is part of Bear Canyon Trail. We rode this hot air balloon in Tucson.
The ride was quiet and peaceful - a nice experience. Ermanos: one of my favourite places to eat. Avocado fries and beer. Funded 1776. Capacity 1250 REVEL's March for Science sign-game is on-point! Yay wine! Yay science! desert cactus bones Usually don't post many food places but this place is a must! #brunch #tucson #arizona #foodiefinds I can't decide... I love both sunsets! wall mural Awesome food at Ermanos! This is the ahi tuna sandwich with kimchi and avocado. Delicious and well-plated. A very nice project worth seen, office closes at 5pm. Take a look and learn about this inspiring project. Breakfast at Mother Hubbard's Janos plays with combinations of flavours that always surprise and usually delight. This is easily the best calamari in town... it's an awesome mix of traditional calamari cooked to perfection (none of that rubbery, tasteless crap) with mango and ginger and lemon and peanuts. Calamari is always on the menu with changing dressings... and I always order it to kickstart a culinary adventure.
Wow. Upon rereading, that was super cheesy and market-y. But really, this is good shit. Check it out!! Such colors in the desert Prickly Pear Cactus Mural Wall mural Tour Barrio Viejo ( the old neighborhood) to see beautiful old Tucson homes like this street across from the park. #Blue Great prices on variety of used sporting equipment and arid climate clothing with TVS showing sports while you shop. Good inexpensive Jalisco style Mexican food, order at counter, they bring food to the table, made to order, especially known for breakfast, homemade sauce bar and their barbacoa. See memorial to Mendoza brothers, have a picnic, watch artists at work then tour the surrounding Barrio Viejo (old neighborhood). See the beautifully recreated fort, grounds, see artifacts in the museum and learn the history from the helpful docent. #Blue Sunsets are amazing! Great hiking around the area the layers of colors!
