Bad experience trying to check in
Posted Aug 18, 2015 on Hotels
I actually never got to stay at Puerta del Arco. The hotel is located in a small village near Valladolid near another village where I was attending a wedding. I had called the hotel before I arrived to make sure someone would be at the reception, however when I got there, no one was there and no one answered my calls. In the end the staff of the restaurant next door managed to get the receptionist. She checked me in, gave me the key after which she realized she didn't have my name on the list and told me I needed to leave. I called hotels.com who confirmed that I did have a reservation at the hotel but as she had no room for me, I was turned away.
So with my luggage I got a cab to the village where the wedding reception took place. These villages are not very close to each other and there are very few taxis so the whole process took about 2 hours. In that time I managed to find another hotel. To make things even funnier, Puerta del Arco called me back after those 2 hrs saying they now did have a room for me. But going back to check in would have meant missing the wedding reception and as they don't have a 24hr reception, I couldn't go back there after the wedding. So all in all, not a very positive experience.
