Beautiful property for fly fishing

Posted May 21, 2018
Beautiful property and chalet room. We enjoyed gorgeous views from our patio of the grounds — the property had a decent amount of acreage with beautiful rolling hills and trees and most importantly river access. The lodge was also very cozy offering large fireside couches, a cocktail bar, and full restaurant service. The dinner was great! Really our only con during the stay was the matress—we had two twin sized mattresses pushed together to form a king with a large crack down the middle; it was very foamy and soft leaving us with sore backs the next day. Other than that we were very happy and would stay again.

Rural location

Posted Feb 20, 2018
Pros: It is very much a lodge in a rural setting & it looks & feels like that. It makes a change from city style hotels.
Cons: You must be prepared for a little less privacy ,especially next door noise & conversation in the chalets.
Location: Great for a getaway & nearby fishing & bush trails.
The hotel is heavily geared to enjoyment of the Tongariro National Park, especially freshwater fishing. We only used it for a one day stopover.

Much bigger than I was expecting

Posted Feb 8, 2018
Pros: The size of the villas and the convenience of the restaurant for breakfast.
Cons: The WiFi connection was a bit spotty.
Location: Very quiet, off the main road location. Lots of fishing and swimming activities nearby.
The villas were very nice and much larger than I was anticipating. Loved the fishing theme for the decorations, and really liked that there was a bookshelf with books in it for if you had run out of things to read. Very comfortable beds and the breakfast at the restaurant was delicious. We were especially fond of the croissants, but everything was good. Wifi a bit indifferent in terms of connection, but we didn't really need it anyway. Very quiet and nature-oriented.

TV didn't work and reception not open. Restaurant not open in the evening. We booked this lodge because it had a restaurant.

Hi, that is disappointing, the restaurant is open daily for breakfast and dinner, sometimes if the Lodge is quiet and there are no bookings we will close the restaurant and the Lodge early. My sincerest apologies for the inconvenience this might have caused you.

A great place to stay. The noise from the adjoining unit could be annoying if you let it.

Nice nature and surrounding area. The rooms appear to be recently renovated and were in good condition. Friendly staff.
