great hotel-terrific location

Pros: LOCATION, free bikes, free kayaks/paddle boards, gorgeous beach, spacious beautiful suite
Cons: service at restaurant a little slow but not too bad
Location: short bike ride to town, Caicos Dream Tours located on beach @ Alexandra and offer terrific snorkeling tours!!, walk to other hotel restaurants
We have a great experience in the Alexandra. The one bedroom suite was very spacious and more than we ever hoped for. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We loved the location of the hotel and every night walked along the beach and enjoyed having dinners at various other hotels/resorts. The Alexandra offers free bikes and it was a quick level ride to town with lots of additional restaurants, shops and a very nice grocery store. It was great to keep snacks and drinks in the room. The restaurant at the hotel was good but we only used it for breakfast; it was fun to try out a different restaurant each night. We look forward to returning to the Alexandra each year as our spot in Providenciales.

Alexandra Resort - NEVER AGAIN!!

Pros: -Beach is still incredible!! -Spacious rooms with comfortable beds, good housekeeping. -Restaurant food still quite good -Resort security intact
Cons: There are many Grace Bay alternatives with nicer staff & better amenities - you won't have to 'fight' for your right to a vacation like at Alexandra!
Location: Excellent Salt Mills Plaza shopping and Graceway Gourmet supermarket less than 5-min taxi ride away. Caicos Dream Tours - best tour ever.
Our second visit to Alexandra Resort … a much anticipated 10-day holiday that turned out to be a mess. Little did we know they went bankrupt several months ago, and are now operating in receivership. That may explain the cutbacks in amenities, rudeness of the front desk staff, and why a guest had a photography drone buzzing around the gardens unchecked, probably snapping photos of guests. Some other concerns: -The front desk staff rude/dismissive. Another guest had no water for two days and the front desk staff chuckled. Our room stank of mold - made me want to vomit. On escalation, managers Angela and Gloria proved unpleasant and incompetent, taking hours to address an issue -Activities cut back – last year's really fun manager's socials with live music/dancing/buffet are gone in favor of a few scraps of food, prerecorded music and ... low turnout! -Garbage no longer cleared from the beach with plastic everywhere including in the water -- a bit sad -Towels rationed – available only from beach attendant with 'cards' carrying $25 penalty if lost. As a result, pool is closed after 6pm - no evening swims -Stray cats milling about the restaurant seeking food from patrons - hopefully not diseased -Jets taking off overhead every 15 min in afternoon, as beach is in the PLS flight path -Bedside lighting was ripped out during the renovations – no reading in bed -The beach has a water dispenser, but no cups anymore. Bring your own supply!

We are sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your stay at Alexandra Resort. We would like to correct a few of the claims in this review. The Alexandra Resort did not go bankrupt a few months ago and is not in receivership. We also have not had cutbacks - like most resorts, we have changed some of our amenities that are offered, and that has included introducing new ones in the last few months, such as providing food and beverage service at the beach and poolside. Please note that we have never had live music at the Manager’s Party in the past few years or anywhere on the resort, but we now offer this on Wednesday nights at Asú on the Beach. The room that experienced water problems was a private condo and not part of the resort, despite that we did our best to help them. A guest did indeed have a drone at the beach at Christmas, but it was over the water and not filming resort guests. We hope this clarifies for future guests.

Well worth every cent

The Alexandra is an excellent no frills resort in TCI. We've stayed here twice an have had a wonderful time both stays. The rooms are clean. The staff are friendly, though I miss the concierge who was there last time we stayed. The front desk could use another person but we didn't mind waiting considering the great rates. The beach is the highlight. Beautiful and pristine and the staff help you find chairs and set up umbrellas for you. Plus you can order drinks on the beach- heaven! We miss having Mango Reed restaurant on site but we're glad to find it reopened in turtle cove. Asu, the new restaurant is ok, but we preferred to eat elsewhere most meals. The Alexandra is centrally located so if you rent a car you can Check out restaurants all over the island. Da Conch Shack and Caicos Cafe are favorites. Overall the Alexandra is a great affordable way to visit TCI.

Staff needs a little bit of work

I am a small business owner so I understand how hard it is to find good help every one was friendly but some of the desk people are a bit clueless . Also I had to leave early and had a lot of resistant's from lower management until I spoke to the correct person and she handled it correctly . Place was clean and up dated nicely

Excellent beach front property

The hotel staff was exceptional! The attentiveness to detail and coping with the smile was appreciated! Excellent experience and I'll definitely return. Front desk staff a one. Met great people that owned @ resort for 13 or more years and it's a great community of people.

Good Beach, nice pool, ok grounds

Band played very loud on the deck for a private party until 11:30pm. Absolutely no sleep till then. Don't know how families with children coped!

Great beach, few amenities at the resort

Pros: Beach, up to date room.
Cons: The restaurant. For the price it should be better.
Location: Rent a car or plan on doing a lot of taxi rides. Driving is easy and there is a LOT to do on this island.
Beach and staff are AWESOME! The resort does not have a great concierge service. Not a lot of amenities (i.e. NO on site store, only kayaks and snorkel gear, only 1 restaurant, etc) room was nice enough but we had a beachfront studio so it was smallish but do-able. Asu, the new restaurant, is over-priced for the quality of the food. Also, VERY sterile atmosphere. Just plan on eating out often.

Good Value on Grace Bay Beach

Location: Caicos Dream Tours can be arranged by the Alexandra staff. Very convenient and the 1/2 day snorkeling tour was excellent.
The Alexandra is located on Grace Bay beach, which from my perspective is the best beach in the Caribbean and the USA as well. The staff was very pleasant and always ready to help. My garden view queen bed room had an outside deck with table and chairs, a nice bathroom with glass shower and a small kitchen area with microwave, toaster, coffee maker, and mini-frig. Made it easy to buy a few items from the market rather than pay for all meals at a restaurant. Bicycles are available for free but were frequently all in use by guests in the morning. Both the pool and beach facilities are excellent, with ample umbrellas, towels and lounge chairs, at least when we were there in the November off-season. Contrary to what other reviewers have posted, the Alexandra is not within easy walking distance to the Grace Bay Road restaurant and shopping commercial district. There are several nice restaurants nearby on the beach, but it is more than a 1 1/2 mile one way walk to the commercial area. While that would be a nice walk on a crisp fall day in the northeast, in the humid tropics, not so much! A few nits kept my rating at "4" versus "5". The servers at the pool/beach bar gladly provided cups of ice with a smile but there was no self service ice available anywhere. Seems a bit Spartan for a luxury resort. Also, got conflicting responses from the front office to the same question.
