Good base for a visit to the Grand Canyon

Posted Sep 21, 2017
The staff member on check in was not real friendly, although this was made up for by the woman on duty when we checked out. An officious staff member told us to move out of a disabled parking spot close to our room before we had even turned our car off. We thought he was quite rude. Having said that, the room was as clean and comfortable and a god base to explore the Grand Canyon

Grand Canyon Stay

Posted Sep 20, 2017
Pros: Very Comforabale beds
A friend and I had a permit to go back country hiking the following day for three nights in the bottom of Grand Canyon. We wanted to get a good night's sleep in a comfortable bed and then leave very early for the trail head. I am a repeat visitor to the Red Feather Lodge and recommend them to my friends that want to stay in Tuscyan. The best rates if booked in advance.

Perfectly functional hotel

Posted Sep 19, 2017
Pros: closeness to the grand canyon park grounds and lots of restaurants
Cons: updated decor, larger rooms, better lighting
Location: very close to the park - lots of restaurants and shopping near by
We stayed at The Red Feather Lodge for one night. It was the only hotel that had room availability (and we booked at least a month in advance). The hotel was completely functional. No particularly bad qualities but no good ones either - other than it was very clean. We stayed in one of their buildings in the back. Perhaps something in the main hotel would have been nicer. Our room was functional - but it could use a refresh and it certainly wasn't roomy.

Nice hotel at a convenient location

Posted Sep 17, 2017
We stayed at the hotel during our visit to the Grand Canyon N.P.. The hotel is at a very convenient location, you can take the park shuttle from the little town of Tusayan into the park. This will greatly save your time because of the crowded parking situation. There are a variety of restaurants in the town as well. The hotel condition is OK and the room is clean. We did experience a little problem when the shower water was not hot in one of the nights, but they fixed the issue pretty quickly within an hour. Overall I would recommend this place.

Very convenient location

Posted Sep 17, 2017
Pros: Location, friendly staff, clean
Cons: See above
Location: Restaurants, souvenir shops, IMAX theater
We stayed for four nights and had a wonderful stay. Room was good sized and clean. Water pressure was great. HVAC was good and bad. The good was, it had a constant-on fan setting, which allowed you to have it run full-time to help drown out noise. The bad was, once it got down to a certain point, it could not cool the room any further. The room never got as cool as we like it to be at night for sleeping. The pool and hot tub were in nice shape, although the pool is NOT heated, so it was quite a bit chillier than most would like. (The nighttime lows were in the 30's and 40's while we were there, so it takes a lot of sun to balance that out.) The one fix that I would suggest for this hotel would be to install dampers on their room doors. If you happen to get people who are clueless and simply walk out of the room, the door will slam very loudly! Tusayan is basically a one-half-mile long commercial strip, not really a "town" with neighborhoods. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, is overpriced in this area. Either way, it's a modern spot with lots of decent (expensive) dining, good (expensive) hotels, and good (expensive) other things! Once we saw the lodging that was inside the GCNP, we weren't disappointed that we didn't get one of those rooms, because your dining/shopping choices are far fewer there than in Tusayan. You will be only about 10 minutes from the Welcome Center, which is mere feet from Mather Point, which will be your first view of the canyon.

Great value, friendly staff

Posted Sep 15, 2017
Pros: Clean and comfortable
Cons: offering breakfast
Location: close to the grand canyon, lots to do there. Many overpriced restaurants in the area - what else would you expect?
This is the second time I have stayed here when visiting the Grand Canyon. Both times were excellent. The only thing that could make it better was if they served breakfast. Unfortunately they don't but they do have a coffee machine at the front desk allowing you to grab coffee and an apple at any time. It's close to the Grand canyon entrance and the staff are friendly.
