Okay for one night

Pros: Close to the University of Alabama
Hotel was okay. Close to the University of Alabama which is what we needed. Air conditioning unit wasn't working properly, leaking onto the floor. So, room temp was not as comfortable as wanted.

Horrible! Award winning? Not a chance. Close to where we needed to be yes, Robert (front desk) and Susan (breakfast hostess) really nice. Maid service - horrible - threw away my plastic bag for travel - changed towels but took mat. Room smelled of mold, sheets were so thin you could see through them - stains on the end of bed - don't even want to think about it. Room came with flight so free. Pretty sure I would rather have paid for something clean. Yuck!

Close to Shopping

Pros: The breakfast was Okay
Cons: Change the mattresses and pillows on the beds. Shampoo carpets!
Location: Every type of shopping was within a 5 minute drive.
We stayed 2 nights at this hotel. It was convenient to the campus, that is the nicest thing I can say. We had a very hard time sleeping in the beds...they were the hardest beds we have ever slept in. No sleep!!!! We ran out of tissues and coffee and did not notice and the cleaning crew never checked to replace these items. Also, I walked around barefoot and the carpet was so dirty, my feet were black on the bottom. We stayed here during Freshman Move-In weekend. I would not stay here again.

Pros: BREAKFAST
canceled my reservation!! Did not show I ever had a reservation and did not have any rooms available! Finally came up with room 153. the phone was dead, the AC ran , but set on 61 and could not change! took the toilet about 20 min to fill with water. the walls and ceiling were covered with mildew!

Pleasant staff great breakfast. People had alcoholic beverages at the pool even though signs were posted. Made it uncomfortable to be at the pool with young kids.

Expected it to be better

Check in was fine and it is in a good location. Felt safe. Swimming pool is great. Beds are comfy. The food was good, better than a few other hotels I've stayed at, but I was there for 5 days and they have the same thing EVERY day. By the 3rd day I couldn't stand to eat the same thing. Was disappointed that the ice machine didn't work and they don't have a guest washer/dryer. The tv had only a few channels so we were limited on that. The staff was stingy on the towels; we had to keep asking for more. We were 4 people in the room and just kept getting 2. The room also had a musty smell. I couldn't sleep the first day b/c the sheets had a weird smell. Not sure if I'll stay here again; maybe only if I want to save some money.
