After a full day of driving it was a treat to end our day at Chateau Merrimack. This resort hotel has undergone a huge transformation and it’s beautiful. The rooms are massive, well appointed and beautifully lit and the beds are comfortable. The pillows were a bit puffy for my liking, but that’s how it goes sometimes. The bathrooms are enormous and the tub/ shower combo was luxurious, and there are heat lamps to warm the large space which is a nice touch.
Our favourite feature was the pool/hot tub. Located in a separate (very charming) building, the pool was warm and perfect for a leisure swim and some short laps after a full day in the car and the hot tub helped melt all the tension away. The loungers, plants, lighting and design of the pool house make you feel like you’re at a resort and if this spot wasn’t a 10-hour drive from home, we’d definitely return regularly for spa visit staycations.
The restaurant was closed for renovations and a menu upgrade (they did give us a tour of the space though, and it’s lovely!) but the lounge/bar was open and we were able to order a delicious Caesar salad, yummy wings and a plate of fries that satisfied three of us. They have a gorgeous wood burning fireplace that smells incredible and makes the space warm and cozy.
The staff we were warm, welcoming and truly seem to enjoy their workplace which adds to the good vibes this hotel gives off. Check out the library and have a look at photo of the hotel before the transformation!
