Nice clean hotel but not in the best neighborhood. We were at Universal all day so it was fine to just have a place to stay but to get a meal the neighborhood is not one I felt comfortable walking around in. There is a Dennys directly across the street and a taqueria next door which not fancy, was delicious.

Facilities great - lovely coffee available 24hrs and delicious pastries from local bakery every morning . Don't be put off by motel look of hotel, spent 3 weeks travelling California staying in everything from 4 stars down yo log cabins, this was by far the best. Real gem

Clean very nicely decorated large room. Only things I didn't like were (1) the queen 2-bed plus-sofabed studio "suite" was just a big room with no privacy at all among guests. Would've liked some sort of privacy wall, as with many hotels. (2) guest laundry needed more than one washer/dryer.

My family of 4 recently stayed at the Garland. We loved the hotel-- the room was comfortable; the pool area is beautiful, especially at night when the lights go on; the food at the restaurant and pool bar was great. The staff was friendly and helpful. Our only complaint-- like other posters-- was the feeling that the management was trying to get very last nickel from us. I needed to use the computer in the tiny business center... and was charged by the minute! Wi-fi is terrible... but if you pay $8 a day, you get "improved" wi-fi. There's no free coffee in the lobby but you can get a cup to go in the restaurant for $5. And parking was $22 a day!!!!! The list goes on. I travel frequently and these amenities are generally part of the room price. I felt tricked, having selected s room at an agreed-upon price, and then having to pay $200 more for parking and the use of a lobby computer. It soured what was otherwise a lovely experience.

It was a very pleasant visit. The staff was nice. There was some inconsistent statements from two of the front desk staff however. I was told that I had to leave a large deposit for incidentals by one of the staff members, and no amount by another one.
That was a bit frustrating as there was a large group of us and the incidentals were not mentioned for everyone, just a few select ones!
