Overpriced and understaffed

For such an expensive hotel, I didn’t find the staff particularly helpful. They made me call Expedia to shorter my stay instead of just doing it for me. They only had one luggage guy so we had to wait for 15 min for him to finish helping another group of guest until he would help get our luggage. Since its an old building, there’s also some problems with the hardware. There was no heating system of any kind in the bathroom and we had to ask them to bring one from outside because New York is freezing in February. The electricity also stopped working in one of the rooms at one point. These are the type of problems that should not be happening when you stay at a 5 star hotel charging at this price range.

Our team is more than happy to assist but when it comes to third party reservations, such as Expedia, there are a lot of personal verification details that are asked which our team may not have access to. We apologize for the delay in luggage service as there may have been an influx in either departures or arrivals but understand how this could be frustrating. Our Director of Engineering and his team continually review the heating and cooling units but some of our more classic rooms, such as our Deluxe King and Junior Suites do not have the heated floors in the bathrooms. Should you wish to reserve a room with heated floor in the future we may suggest the Lowell King, deluxe Junior Suite or Lowell One Bedroom Suite Deluxe. We have taken note of your comments and will address with our team. Thank you again.

Pros: Location, rooms, and there is an amazing smell when you enter the hotel. Very friendly and discreet.

New York escape

Cons: View from our room
Location: Location was fantastic
We visited New York City recently because we live in Miami and Hurricane Irma caused a lot of up heval to our home. We made last minute reservations and were able to stay for the first time at the Lowell hotel. It was exactly what we needed. A friendly staff with quiet well appointed rooms. I will return to the Lowell anytime I can.
