Not worth the price!

Posted Oct 12, 2017
We just finished our stay at the Kimpton Amara Resort in Sedona. The hotel grounds are beautiful and there are great views of the Red rocks from the restaurant, Salt Rock and the Infiniti Pool. The entire staff was warm and friendly from the valet to housekeeping. My biggest complaint is that we booked this room through Expedia about 2 months before our trip. The room they gave us a room that had a maximum charge per night at about 100 less than what we paid. I really feel that they are giving guests the cheapest rooms when booking through a third party. Our room was small, barely had any amenities and no views. Was the room worth what we paid? Absolutely not. I don't know if its worth booking these rooms through third party sites like Expedia due to their policies and when you go to the hotel you get only third class rooms.

Boutique Hotel in Uptown Sedona

Posted Oct 4, 2017
Small, quiet hotel set off the main road in uptown Sedona but within close walking distance to many restaurants and shops. The hotel, restaurant and bar staff members are very friendly and helpful. The spa is lovely - had the best mani /pedi ever from Robyn - and the hotel offers two free yoga classes in the AM and a free wine happy hour from 5-6 pm. The room and bathroom were smallish - thought they would be bigger from the photos. The central courtyard offers a beautiful view of the Sedona mountains - never get tired of those views!

Good location. good food.

Posted Oct 4, 2017
Pros: The view, the food and location
Cons: Cleaning and appearance. Value for your dollar!
Location: Easy access to the main street, nes tours and restaurants.
Hotel is less than what they charge and brag about, the small table in the bathroom is rusted. The room had old and stained cushions. They have issues with their housekeeping. They leave dirty towels for 24 hrs in the hallways, they don't pick up room service for 12 hrs etc. They made me feel all the time I was an Expedia guest and not one of their regulars or valued customers.

High end disappointment

Posted Oct 3, 2017
Noisy cooling units keep you awake at night. Worn carpet on stairs. Crack in ceiling by entry. Unusual- tub shower mixing valve. Toto toilet ok but seat should be slow close to avoid banging it down at night- a higher grade seat is expected at a 4star hotel. hotel at bottom of large hill-lots of stairs to climb to the street. Entry difficult to fond/signs hidden by foliage. Green algae in fountain visible from 2nd floor balcony. Side of fountain has icky looking scale by waterfall. No microwave or coffee in room- but that’s ok it’s only $7 at the bar. Free water bottles at valet- but it’s warm. Staff very gracious.

Nice Hotel but Uncomfortable bed

Posted Sep 17, 2017
Pros: Wine hour, yoga, location
Cons: Mattress
Location: This is located in uptown Sedona near all the shops and restaurants. Keep in mind you have to walk up a sizable hill to get to the street.
This hotel was overall a nice place in a good location uptown near the shops, but I wouldn't be able to stay here again because the mattress in my room was so uncomfortable. It was sagging out at the sides, so I could tell it was either old or just bad quality. It felt very hard and firm, but in a bad way. I like firm beds but honestly the bed in a mid-range hotel I stayed in after this was better. If you're someone who can sleep on anything you will probably be fine. I did like the complementary yoga, wine hour, and pool. Make sure you take advantage of these things because they do charge a $27.00 resort fee per day. I thought the pool area was a bit small for the size of the hotel and there weren't any lounges available when I went for a swim. Some other small details that kept this from being a "luxury" hotel in my mind were the old slider screen door to my patio that kept falling off its runner, a make-up stained towel, the water in the fountains in the outside area was brown, and as I mentioned: the mattress. I think with attention to these details it could be a great hotel.

Thank you for the great feedback! No excuse for a stained towel or murky fountain (that has actually been addressed). Mattresses always get comments either way, but we'll chalk this one up in the "dislike" category! Thank you again!

good location to dining and shopping

Posted Sep 17, 2017
Pros: The small, welcoming feel of it. It has a lot of personality!!
Cons: More restaurants onsite.
Location: The best thing about this resort is the proximity to everything in Sedona-shopping, restaurants, tours, etc.
Beautiful view of the red rocks, great pool and lounge area-spa on site!

Thank you, Caroline! Not sure we'll be adding another restaurant anytime soon...but we are getting a new Executive Chef in the coming weeks. Stop back soon for some new eats!

Nice but not great

Posted Sep 9, 2017
Nice hotel but not great for the prize. Pictures are better than what it is! Too dark and outdated carpet. Mildew smell was in corridors. Needs some freshness
