I've traveled all over the world and this was one of my favorite hotels anywhere. It was really almost a perfect place to stay. The old stone building is a bit like a castle and the thick, stone walls kept my room a fairly constant and pleasant temperature day and night. I never had to use the air conditioner in June. The room and cavernous bathroom were spotlessly clean and comfortable. The bed was superb as was the WiFi throughout the hotel. The very pleasant roof terrace was a wonderful place for breakfast and to relax in the evenings with superb views of Urgup and the surrounding countryside. The breakfasts were also outstanding with homemade bread and jams, eggs made to order, cereal, and traditional Turkish breakfast fare.
The hotel is located right by the main square of Urgup, which is a wonderful town. The location is just about perfect and extremely convenient to restaurants, shops, tour company offices, and public transport. I passed through Goreme, which has more tourists than locals, several times and I was very happy I chose to stay in Urgup.
The staff was friendly and helpful. There are two things travelers should be aware of though. First there is a mosque across the street and the call to prayer is quite loud. I had no trouble sleeping though. This may not be a good choice for you if you have trouble with stairs. My in-suite bathroom was about five feet above my room, accessed by stone stairs. Stairs are also required to reach the terrace and upper rooms.

Staff is unbelievably great!
Cave hotel is unique and beautiful.
Urgup is a charming town.
Ziggy's Restaurant next door is the best kept secret in Cappedocea!
Only challenge is no AIr Conditioning in cave rooms so hot in the afternoon when it was very hot outside.

"This is a great hotel for a great part of Turkey."
We truly felt at home at home here. We even had our own pet cats (Peynir and her black cousin) who roam the hotel and will visit the reception area often (they don't enter rooms). Breakfast was awesome. Cem at reception went out of his way to help us when we had a minor issue.
I would really stay here again. While in Cappadocia do rent a car and discover the small towns. I really liked Avenos and bought pottery there. Food is excellent everywhere.

Kayakapi caves are truly phenomenal! Definitely one of the best hotels I've ever seen and stayed in. Every room is uniquely designed keeping the originality of the caves intact, the views are breath taking and the personalised service is exceptional! Every room is a suite which came as a surprise for us and my entire family enjoyed every moment of the stay!

We are a couple. Great location and well fitted out cave rooms, plenty of steps but this added to the attraction. Staff were brilliant and could speak English well. They arranged interesting local trips as well. Breakfasts were very good, evening meals were adequate. We would stay there again.

We were lucky to interact with Ms Ramona Vopel, Tour consultant at MDC Hotel. Very courteous and friendly staff, from the time to arrived till we left the hotel. Treated us as a family friend. Guided us well and smartly made arrangements for our tour within a short duration. It was a satisfying trip overall at Cappadocia.

This is an extraordinary hotel - rooms literally in very very old caves dug centuries ago have been cleaned up and appointed with all the conveniences a traveler would want - and then some! The people at the desk and in the breakfast were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was fulsome and delicious. We had a wonderful time! (The one teeny drawback for older folks is that it is up a long and steep hill - fine to walk down but a challenge to get up especially after some of the lovely local wine - but taxis are plentiful and cheap.)

The hotel was gorgeous: exposed stone and interesting woodwork everywhere with traditional rugs all around. Our room was essentially a suite with a "living area" besides the sleeping area. Noise level was zero. On the other hand, I don't think many of the rooms would qualify as "caves." The restaurant was a bit disappointing, mainly because it seemed to be geared more towards groups rather than individuals. But the two best restaurants in Ürgüp were close by. The hotel will organize tours etc.
