Pros: We enjoyed the peacefulness, the log structure and its comfort. A nice supermarket is just few blocks away.
Location: Ushuaia downtown is approximately 3km away.
We had a great experience at Hosteria El Recodo. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel is new and located in an area under development and a few kilometers away from downtown. It may not be as convenient as you think if you are not driving a vehicle.

Very exceptional staff!

Pros: The staff!
Cons: The faucets take a little muscle to get fully turned off, but not the end of the world!
Location: Plenty of hiking within the area. Lots of options between the Tierra Del Fuego National Park, and other close by mountains to the east.
The receptionist was friendly and would give suggestions, call cabs, or provide maps. They were always available. The hotel is about a 45 minute walk into the center of town, but well worth it. We stayed at another hotel four blocks from the center of town, and it was considerably more expensive, and not nearly as nice. Breakfast was wonderful, well organized, and great view. The rooms at Hosteria del Recodo are spacious and have lots of cabinets to keep things organized while there for a few days.

Nice, quiet hotel 2.5 km from the center of town

Posted Dec 11, 2014
Pros: Quiet, attractive building materials, mountain view, bedsheets and duvets, radiant heating in bathroom.
Cons: Billing confusion; the online confirmation of 'paid in full' was not accepted at checkout; prompting what will hopefully not be a duplicate charge.
Location: Supermarket; 2.5 km walk into center of town.
A small, intimate hotel in a quiet neighborhood of reasonably upscale private homes and boutique hotels. Very good for those wishing to stay outside of downtown. Neat whole log construction downstairs is compelling, as is the great view of the mountains from the public areas on the second floor. The thick high quality sheets, down duvets and in-floor radiant heating was notably impressive in this relatively modest price range. The breakfast (included) was okay, but not a highlight. Unsurprising negative factors would be the distance into the town center and limited tourist attractions in the neighborhood. The sound insulation in the rooms was also a little disappointing, as was the clunky, manual operating keys and conflict with online paid reservation that prompted a charge on checkout that will hopefully not be a duplicate.

A little bit far from downtown nice neighbourhood

Posted Sep 17, 2014
Everything was fine till the last day when the lady from reception told my father in a rude way that we couldn't leave because we were owing them money; we did the check out the last night with another person and all the bills were paid. What bothered us was the way in which she said it, not the correct one to treat a guest

Nice place to stay

Hotel and room were nice and clean, staff sympathetic and helpful. The hotel is a little bit far from center, but sometimes it's better like that.

Lovely Hotel

Pros: The view from the room, balcony and breakfast room was amazing.
Location: it is a few kilometers from downtown which makes it nice and peaceful, it is a short taxi ride to the port for the Beagle Channel excursion & airport
The staff were really helpful with arranging transport to the National Park, calling for taxi's to the airport and downtown. The supper was delicious. Room was really comfortable and spacious

Great for a layover

Posted Apr 1, 2013
Pros: no frills, english personel very helpful
Cons: nothing
Location: just suburbia and a freeway
You only stay at this hotel because you have a layover in Buenos Aires, all other hotels besides one other are at least half an hour away, this is the cheaper one and great value for money, very basic so don't expect too much, great service with english speaking personel to help, they also offer free shuttles to the airport
