This is one of the best hotel in the mainland. Worth the price. Restaurants, grocery store and matira beach is just a short walk. The beach bungalow is perfect for our little kids. The concierge/receptionist is very accommodating and hospitable. I forgot to get her name, but it was really sweet of her to give us a bunch of their local banana as we checked out, it was the sweetest banana we ever tasted in this whole trip.

We did 3 nights @ Maitai, then upgraded to the Intercontinental for 1 night. For the money, the Maitai over-the -water is a much better deal than the Intercontinental (almost twice as much). Free breakfast is a plus and most of the staff is friendly and helpful. Two thumbs up!

Overall the experience was okay, but not the best. Staff are welcomed by the check in but later if you needed anything it’s hard to communicate or get what you requested. There’s no restaurant room service , you have to order and go and pick up which was not convenient at all. Restaurant by the beach is understaffed, the service is very slow. The manager is great to work with and gave us a great accommodation .

Over water bungalows had large outdoor decks and swim platforms. Artificial coral reefs allowed excellent snorkeling from our room. We saw two stingrays and lots of tropical fish.

It’s a good place to stay without the higher prices of other options. I stayed there because I wanted to spend more money on doing tours and other activities. There is a beach in front of the hotel but it wasn’t appealing. However, it’s a 10-15 minute walk to Maitra beach which is much better.

Bucket list #1 done! Overwater bungalows are so dreamy. Love that we could swim right outside the deck and there’s fish everywhere. Staff are friendly. Cutest boutique with the best prices in the island. It was so hard to leave this place!

This is a good spot if you want to be close to town and be over the water in a reasonably priced Bungalow. Snorkeling right off your dock is wonderful and like your swimming in an aquarium. The full service buffet breakfast is well situated with tons of choices and wonderful coffee. The office staff is very helpful. We had a wonderful time. Look for the welcome surprise in your room - its yummy

The staff was very welcoming and always available to answer any questions. Out our entire stay in French Polynesia, our stay at Maitai was the best experience. We've already recommended this place to others and would stay there again if we ever return. My only recommendation is to make improvements to the breakfast, the savory items were either dry or overcooked but the fruit was sweet and delicious. Overall a great stay and the breakfast did not deter us. Thank you so much for the warm welcome and sendoff!

The staff was well trained and immediately served welcoming drinks as we registered. Desk staff made a wise decision to upgrade our room to an available sea view unit for which we are grateful. For that alone, I'd recommend this hotel. The restaurant and breakfast dining was very good. The chef designed menu was a bit dated but the quality and quantities of food were a good deal. We enjoyed this beach. Beautiful white sand. Over water units appeal to the Bora Bora mystique.

I had to call ahead but they arrange transportation back and forth to the airport. They set me up with an awesome snorkel experience and had other Adventures awaiting at the front desk. I like to have plenty of kayaks to use they had two nice restaurant one on the beach and one by the office with a nice bar for happy hour. I thought that by using hotels.com that I didn't get quite the room I paid for

The service was great and all the employees were helpful and kind. This has nothing to do with them but rather the maintenance and systems-level changes that are needed at this place. The garden rooms need an upgrade. The room was dusty and old. The breakfast was not great and I am not a picky eater. It genuinely was a disappointment.

Dining options not so great. There was a gap between the breakfast cut off time at 9:30 and noon until the other restaurant opened up. The breakfast was a buffet. Pretty much the same thing every day. Unless you wanted to order a full-on dinner like steak or fish, the only American type for food in the other restaurant for lunch and dinner was spaghetti, a cheeseburger or pizza. You could not order a simple sandwich. I am not sure how children could eat each meal there with only these choices. I know my grandkids would not be very happy. The kids' choices were the same: spaghetti, cheeseburger or pizza. We did not venture to another property, but I am curious if this was the normal there for food or if it was just this property that was lacking food choices. Other than that, the property was clean, well maintained and the staff was very helpful.

Everything at this resort was great except not enough option for restaurants for dinning, there were total of 3 at walking distance, Maitai restaurant, lucky house and bora bora beach club. The public beach is 7-10 minutes walk. There was no Wifi available in the rooms only in the general areas. The staff were amazing, very helpful and courteous. would definitely recommend this resort.

Maitai is worth your stay!
Friendly & helpful staff!! Beautiful smaller resort. Reasonably priced. Nice, clean overwater bungalow. Great restaurants & food. Beautiful, small white sands beach & lagoon. Resort is nicely located within walking distance to Matira Beach and 2 of the best recommended restaurants. Thanks for a great 2 week stay!

Fantastic stay at Mai Tai in Bora Bora. Super relaxing, good location, snorkeling right off the beach at the hotel and only a few minutes walk to Matira Beach for more swimming and beautiful sunsets. Activities booked through the hotel were top notch! Highly recommend. Māuruuru Mai Tai!!!

This place is walking distance to Matira beach and other local dining areas as well as 2 local markets. We stayed in 3 different room types and every one was fantastic. Breakfast buffet wasn't the best but still happy with it.
