Comfortable traditional chalet, good restaurant.

Posted Dec 15, 2016
Pros: Decor and comfort. Excellent restaurant in basement.
Cons: The erratic elevator.
Location: Close to main shopping area. One block to ski bus. Best to take bus or taxi to ski lifts. Should go to Chez Vrony in Findeln for lunch.
Very well detailed and designed traditional chalet located near to the main shopping street very friendly and helpful staff. One of the best traditional Swiss restaurants in the village specializing in lamb dishes. Part of the Julen family network of Zermatt restaurants and hotels. The only problem was an erratic elevator.

Nice hotel with huge pool

Posted Jun 3, 2016
The hotel was nice and clean. The staff was very helpful. Not all the rooms have air conditioning though so check first. The swimming pool and spa is huge. I find the beds to be hard though.

Great family owned and operated hotel

Posted Feb 25, 2016
Our stay was most pleasant. The hotel is in a great location, the rooms are more than adequate, the staff is most congenial. Each morning the breakfast buffet was enjoyable. The restaurant is wonderful for the evening meal. The bar is a good place to start the evening and end it!

Early season ski weekend

Posted Nov 29, 2015
Pros: Everything, it was great for a weekend and we would have been very happy to stay longer
Location: Good location in Zermatt village, all amenities within walking distance.
Four of us stayed for a ski weekend at the start of the season. All the staff were friendly and helpful, especially on arrival and in the bar and restaurant. The hotel is in a good location and owns the pub opposite which had live music for apres-ski. Really enjoyed the food and comfort of the hotel. Swimming pool was a great help for ski legs. It even snowed overnight in the village after we arrived and the snow was good up on the glacier despite being early in the season.

A Lovely Hotel

Posted Jul 1, 2015
Pros: We liked its charm, the generous breakfast buffet, the lovely room and the fabulous spa. Great location.
Cons: Everyone probably wishes that Switzerland wasn't so expensive. Taxis from Tasch to the hotel are pricey and there are few "budget" restaurants in town
Location: Funiculars, gondolas, cog railway, etc. to view the Matterhorn; great hiking trails, touristy shops in town.
Hotel Julen has authentic Swiss charm. Rooms are very comfortable, with Nespresso machines, complementary bottled water, robes/slippers. 4th-floor rooms have a skylight with remote-operated blind. Well-equipped bathroom with make-up mirror, thick towels. Plenty of storage, good-sized balconies and close to many of the area's attractions, a 5-minute walk to the main shopping area. We appreciated the quieter location. Breakfast is lavish, with prosecco to make mimosas; no detail is overlooked. A spa with heated indoor pool, sauna and steam rooms is a treat after a day's hiking, one of the nicest facilities we've seen. We received a warm welcome (truffles in the room, too) and orientation to the town. Julen has two restaurants: one with a prix fixe 5-course menu, the other a la carte. Housekeeping staff comes later in the day to replenish towels and empty wastebaskets. Julen really cares about its guests' comfort and it shows. Zermatt isn't cheap, but this hotel is a treasure.
