Nice but not great

Posted Nov 15, 2017
Signage to the hotel was poor, same as most of Malta’s attractions. Got to main entrance with car and would have expected them to offer to park it for me but no. Again directions from the car park back into reception via the ballroom entrance was non existent. Room overlooked the old city ramparts but there was refurbishment works going on in the square outside so a bit noisy in the morning. Public rooms were large and airy but a tad soulless if I had to be picky. Breakfast was €17 a head suppose that is about right and the choices were adequate. It was November so the outside pool was shut not that I was going to use it as the weather was cold and wet. The bed was a bit firm. Very well located just outside the old town gates and very historic place.

Excellent hotel within 2/3 minute walk of Valletta

Posted Nov 14, 2017
Pros: High class hotel with lovely staff. The infinity swimming pool and sun bathing area are very classy.
Cons: Unfortunately I found the beds too soft which ruined my sleeping. However this was just my opinion.
Location: Superb location.
High quality hotel which is only a 2/3 minute stroll from central Valletta. That makes the location of The Phoenicia perfect. Valletta is a truly wonderful city. Stunning baroque architecture, immaculately clean and safe, and with superb shopping and eating establishments. The Phoenicia and Valletta are perfect partners.

Pros: Stylish, comfortable.
Cons: Number of housekeeping staff so that rooms service for existing guests before at least 2pm. The range of the restaurant menu.
Location: Excellent location for access to Valetta
Bathroom not clean on arrival, hairs on floor. On one day room not made up when we returned at c2pm. Restaurant menu limited. Breakfast very good , most staff very pleasant. However, attitude of woman on the reception desk very curt and defensive when issue of room not being made up by early afternoon was raised.

not 5* room

Posted Nov 11, 2017
Lovely hotel but the room was basically much like any 3 or 4 * . The pool was at the end of the lovely gardens so had to walk there in dressing gown !!! Not ideal! Great location though.

Dear cat Thanks so much for sharing your experience at The Phoenicia and I am very sorry you were not made aware of the changing facilities we have by the pool deck. The Phoenicia was built in Art Deco style more than 80 years ago and is the island’s most historic hotel. While this provides the hotel with its unique old world charm, it obviously also comes with certain limitations not present in new buildings, such as the size of some of our rooms. Thank you again for your feedback and we are hoping to be able to welcome you back one day. Kind regards, Nikola

Excellent location close to the Valletta city gate

Posted Nov 8, 2017
Pros: Location, feel of opulence, the art decor, the terrace for dining and helpful staff.
Location: The local guided walk booked through Trip Advisor on the first day gave us all the history we needed to know and places to visit.
The staff were helpful and always polite and courteous. We loved the open drinks area with marble flooring, comfortable sofas and palms around us. The bedroom was well equipped. Our stay was very comfortable and perfect for enjoying the sites of Valletta and surrounding areas.

Good hotel ideal location

Posted Oct 26, 2017
The hotel is ideally located for Valletta and for bus services to whole island of Malta. Infinity pool is fantastic built beside City rampart and infinity pool view to Marina. Great staff. At the time of our visit works are being undertaken at hotel to build new spa, and on roads outside ready for 2018 City of Culture. There was some noise but this was accounted for and known when we booked.

Fantastic hotel

Posted Oct 15, 2017
Pros: Warm and friendly staff, great atmosphere and beautiful decor.
Cons: Once final renovation work is completed, I could then rate it higher.
Location: Great location with a short walk to the bus station and to Valletta old town. Lots of cultural places to visit in the town as well as great restaurant
Excellent hotel. The staff were so helpful and did all they could to ensure we enjoyed our stay. Friendly, relaxed atmosphere with a touch of elegance. Lovely setting and it's a great location. So convenient for transport with the bus station nearby and taxi, coach and other transport connections a short walk away. The entrance to Valletta old town is a short walk from the hotel and once nearby landscaping is complete with beautiful fountains and planted area, then it will be an amazing setting.
