Character and convenience

Posted Aug 18, 2017
Pros: "Brutalist" architecture and magnificent garden walk to the pool,
Location: Malta has an excellent public transportation system and the central bus terminal is right in front of the Hotel, you can reach any part of the island
5 min walk to shops and restaurants in city center, 2 min walk to central bus station but nevertheless the hotel itself is in a very quiet location with harbor view.

Classy hotel

Posted Aug 12, 2017
Pros: The quality of everything was very good, attention to detail is obviously given.
Cons: The gym and spa are still under construction which would have enhanced our stay.
Location: It the best place to be based to explore all of Valletta.
Hotel has just been refurbished and the service was superb. Enjoyed every moment of it.

Beautiful hotel in excellent location

Posted Jul 19, 2017
Pros: VG value for money. Pleasant & exceptionally helpful staff Breakfast of high quality with good selection.Chocolate cake in the Palm Lounge to die for
Location: Location is excellent for Valletta - just a short walk as is the island's main bus station with transport to all parts of Malta.
This hotel of great character has been tastefully refurbished with a beautiful lounge, restaurant and bar. The restaurant and bar open out onto a terrace overlooking the lovely gardens. The bedroom was not particularly large but more than adequate with excellent AC and extremely comfortable bed and bedding. Plenty of storage space is provided. There was a high standard of cleanliness in the bedroom and good sized bathroom. Towels were of of extremely high quality. The hotel gardens and new infinity pool overlooking the harbour are beautiful. All in all our stay was very enjoyable and we will certainly come back to this delightful hotel. Our two young adult sons also enjoyed the experience.

Art Deco Luxury in a Technological Age

Posted Jun 30, 2017
Pros: Kind and well-dressed staff; British Colonial architecture; infinity pool overlooking port; palm court lounge; restaurant; proximity to sights of city
Cons: All will be perfect when street construction is completed.
Location: Beneath the Valletta fortress walls; within easy walking distance of everything in Valletta.
Staying in this hotel seems like participating in a British Colonial movie from the 1930's. In addition, there's modern air conditioning, television, and internet.

Good hotel convenient for the centre of Valletta.

Posted Jun 27, 2017
Pros: the ambiance about the hotel, the lounge/bar. Helpful staff always on hand, The infinity pool and well planted gardens.
Cons: The ramp at the front entrance, although there is a lift but was not in use. The garden ramp needs to be moved left, or the bushes need trimming!
Location: Plenty of shops and restaurants , cafes.
Very nice hotel, average size room, with walk in shower bathroom good size, very nicely tiled. Helpful staff always on hand, Concierge staff helped with my wheelchair getting up the entrance ramp which is steep.

Good hotel close to centre of Valletta.

Posted May 22, 2017
Pros: Exceptionally pleasant staff and elegant environment. Easy access to the centre of Valletta.
Cons: A choice of different breakfast options. Not everyone wants a large expensive breakfast. The pool is located quite a distance away.
Location: Close to bus station, good for transport to other parts of the island. Close to all Valletta's historical sites.
Staff exceptionally pleasant and helpful. Comfortable and elegant lounge area. A shame one has to go through the formal dining room to reach the outdoor terrace, an alternative access would be nice. Good sound insulation in the room from outside (current EU building works and bus station currently making it very noisy outside, but that is not the hotel's fault.) however could hear the occupants of the next room clearly through adjoining door between rooms. One suggestion for improvement: The only breakfast available in the dining room was large and excessively expensive. We went out to a nearby cafe bar for breakfast each day. A modest breakfast bar with Continental type choice would have been excellent and we would have taken advantage of that.

Dear Linda Thank you so much for your positive review and praise for our staff. We are very happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us, whereas I will certainly pass on your comments about the interconnecting door in your room. With regards to alternative breakfast options, we do offer our guests the possibility of having a modest breakfast of tea or coffee and a selection of pastries and cakes in our Palm Court Lounge. All of us here at The Phoenicia are hoping to be able to welcome you again some time in the future and would like to thank you for staying with us. Kindest regards, Nikola
